[13:20:13] <wiesand> Hi. Any ideas on those reports on -info re "OpenAFS stopped working today"?
[13:23:28] <wiesand> Reminds me of the day a couple of years ago when the Unix time started to use the last of the 32 bits and a bit mask in the OpenAFS code was 1 bit too short (fixed by jhutz on a sunday).
[14:20:09] mbarbosa joins the room
[14:20:52] <mbarbosa> Setting the date to anytime before 14 JAN 2021 08:25:36 seems to solve the problem on my test cell.
[15:23:37] meffie joins the room
[15:24:42] <meffie> reviewing the gerrits now. andrew and mark are reviewing too.
[15:45:12] mbarbosa leaves the room
[17:00:38] <mvita2> stephan there are patches on gerrit from jaltman that are under review
[17:00:46] <mvita2> we are testing them, no problems so far here
[17:00:54] <mvita2> other sites have also applied them
[17:01:40] <mvita2> Ben is aware (on #openafs) and hopes to coordinate with you as soon as he is out of his work mtg
[18:28:19] <wiesand> thanks for the update and everyone's swift action!
[18:31:14] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I think we should take a third patch as well:
https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/c/14496/
[18:31:33] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> otherwise we only get a random initial CID half the time, and a
deterministic one the other half the time.
[18:46:04] <meffie> thanks kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl
[19:21:21] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Hmm, might have to kick gerrit
[20:06:17] <wiesand> looks like you just did?
[20:07:41] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> yes
[21:08:28] <meffie> kaduk will the ubuntu ppa pullup these fixes?
[21:11:41] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I am not entirely sure at the moment.
Anders has not been around very much in places where I would see him,
so I may have to figure out how to make that stuff work, once the
official 1.8.7 is out the door.
[21:12:47] cwills joins the room
[21:13:20] <meffie> once the 1.8.7 tag hits cwills will start building rpms and kmods too.
[21:17:17] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I have a local branch that's candidate for 1.8.7 tag; running build
test now
[21:18:07] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> ... but I forgot to pass -fcommon, so I get to do it again.
[21:34:41] <wiesand> I deployed a test build from the current 1.8.x head + 14493/14494/M14496 to a CentOS7 client. Looks good.
[21:35:59] <wiesand> If there's a quiet minute, could someone point me to the change making this problem strike on 1.8 but not 1.6?
[21:37:09] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> http://gerrit.openafs.org/10841
[21:37:34] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> 1.6 has the initial CID produced within rxkad, which is after the
problematic tv.sec ^ tv.usec "fake initialization"
[21:54:56] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I have a local tag and tarballs, but I'm a little nervous about
publishing them while I'm distracted by this other meeting I'm in ...
[21:57:40] <wiesand> Don't rush it then.
[21:58:25] <cwills> just performed a robotest on a set of centos7 systems with current 1.8.x head (which includes the patches).
[21:58:36] <cwills> tests ran successfully
[22:18:44] <wiesand> BTW, anyone who is in openafs mode anyway, and just on standby for the 1.8.7 release, how about killing some time by reviewing some of those aklog changes from https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/q/status:open+project:openafs+branch:openafs-stable-1_8_x ? ;-)
[22:19:30] <meffie> ha!
[22:29:16] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> The tag is pushed (and reachable from the 1.8.7 branch since there's a
merge commit)
[23:09:50] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Web change up for review at https://gerrit.openafs.org/14498
[23:12:20] <meffie> ok looking
[23:13:41] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> thanks
[23:14:00] <meffie> +1 lgtm, very clear
[23:18:33] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Stephan found an HTML error in the SRPM line
[23:18:54] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> so you will have to re-review if you want the +1 to be immortalized in
the git log.
[23:21:28] <meffie> ok
[23:31:06] <wiesand> sorry ;-)
[23:31:24] <meffie> nice catch wiesand!
[23:32:39] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Apparently I'm misremembering the remctl invocation to rebuild the
website, though.
[23:33:01] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I thought it was `remctl www-01.central.org update_htdocs openafs`
[23:33:27] <wiesand> remctl www-01.central.org export_htdocs openafs
[23:34:06] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> export, sigh.  "So close!"
[23:34:18] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks again!
[23:43:16] <wiesand> I'll call it a day now. Thanks a lot everybody! CU later.
[23:43:33] <meffie> thanks wiesand
[23:43:52] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thank you for all your help!
[23:45:24] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I am going to take a break and go for a walk while it's still light
out.  Then I can think about ubuntu PPA and upgrading my own cells...
[23:45:33] <meffie> thanks ben
