[15:50:38] <meffie> happy dance! merges on openafs-stable-1_8_x !
[15:56:06] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> *does a happy dance*
[15:57:07] wiesand joins the room
[15:59:47] <wiesand> good evening
[16:00:01] <wiesand> yes, I finally got started…
[16:00:29] Cheyenne joins the room
[16:00:36] <Cheyenne> Hello all
[16:00:37] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (FYI, I am a bit distracted this week with another thing going on in
parallel)
[16:03:06] <wiesand> I hope to get those merges (and 5.19 pullups) done today, maybe tomorrow. With a little luck, we should have draft release notes by next week, and can then also decide whether to call it 1.8.8.2 or 1.8.9 - I'll update both changes.
[16:03:44] <Cheyenne> The 5.19 pulls ups should be pretty straight forward.
[16:04:18] <meffie> either version string is fine by me. thank you wiesand
[16:04:58] <wiesand> I think I'll make up my mind while writing the release notes ;-)
[16:05:28] <meffie> sounds good!
[16:06:04] <wiesand> That's all I have on my agenda today
[16:06:30] <meffie> were there any issues with the merging?
[16:06:49] <Cheyenne> (just verified that the 5.19 patches pull up without any conflicts and look "okay")
[16:07:07] <wiesand> fine, thanks!
[16:10:04] <wiesand> On to 1.9/master?
[16:11:00] <Cheyenne> Linux 5.20 (6.0?) has started to ramp up.  There will be a required change (looks simple, but there might be a down the road issue with a GPL interface)
[16:12:16] <Cheyenne> -- the function that was removed is "replaced" via an existing compat wrapper function that ends up calling a GPL function.  Not sure how long the compat wrapper function will stick around
[16:12:53] <Cheyenne> And.. no additional changes were needed for the Linux 5.19 "GA" release.
[16:13:15] <meffie> it's best to head it off before it gets to far.
[16:13:28] <meffie> on the linux lists
[16:15:00] <wiesand> just curious: which function?
[16:15:27] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (I don't have any topics for 1.9/master for today, unfortunately.)
[16:15:45] <Cheyenne> The function being removed is: add_to_page_cache.  The "real" replacement is filemap_add_folio (which is GPL).  The compat wrapper is add_to_page_cache_lru -- which does nothing else but call filemap_add_folio
[16:16:22] <wiesand> thanks
[16:17:09] <wiesand> Anything else you'd like to bring up?
[16:17:51] <meffie> i have nothing. just reviewing commits in gerrit
[16:17:59] <wiesand> If not, how about making this a brief meeting?
[16:18:11] <meffie> sounds good.
[16:18:47] <wiesand> Let's adjourn then. Thanks everybody!
[16:18:48] <meffie> take care all!
[16:18:54] meffie leaves the room
[16:19:02] wiesand leaves the room
[16:19:11] <Cheyenne> I might make a sweep through the kernel module code to clean up some compiler noise (e.g. warning: Using plain integer as NULL pointer)
