[15:55:21] meffie joins the room
[15:56:55] <meffie> hello.
[15:57:04] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> greetings
[15:58:14] Cheyenne joins the room
[15:58:34] <meffie> i build and install master on my desktop about every day. finally found a bug. :)
[15:58:40] <Cheyenne> Hello all
[15:59:05] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> meffie: do tell!
[15:59:07] <meffie> marcio already has a fix and will be pushing to gerrit
[15:59:27] <Cheyenne> I think it's already in gerrit (unless he has additional changes for it)
[15:59:31] <meffie> cmdebug causes an oops, one of the lock name overflows a strcpy
[16:00:08] <meffie> oh, yeah, the strcpy changes in gerrit should avoid the oops.
[16:00:22] <Cheyenne> 14743
[16:00:42] <meffie> cool, i'll retest when that lands.
[16:03:24] <meffie> i suppose i should retest *before* it lands and give a +1 or -1
[16:03:52] wiesand joins the room
[16:04:15] <meffie> hello wiesand
[16:04:22] <wiesand> Hello all
[16:04:48] <Cheyenne> Hello wiesand ... how is the new van?
[16:05:11] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> meffie: :)
[16:06:01] <wiesand> I flew it in today. So far I'm excited, but that's normal on zero-day I guess. Let's see.
[16:06:37] <wiesand> Will post a picture or two soon. Right now it's just too nasty here to go outside.
[16:07:51] <Cheyenne> :)
[16:08:11] <wiesand> But I'm afraid that's all news I have today :-( The paperwork and selling my old car were taking too much time.
[16:09:17] <wiesand> I noticed the new changes uploaded by Michael Laß, but haven't checked for (path) conflicts with other changes yet.
[16:09:35] <Cheyenne> I guess there are 2 items to mention for 1.8.x.  Michael Laß has pushed some 5.17 pullups for 1.8.x -- but I suspect that they have some conflicts with what you are working on
[16:10:09] <wiesand> That's the next thing to check here.
[16:10:16] <Cheyenne> the other is that there is a small list of changes that are also needed for clang-13 for 1.8.x (I've already pulled the changes from master)
[16:11:25] <Cheyenne> but again.. I'm not sure what you have already pulled in with your 1.8.x prep work.
[16:13:58] <wiesand> I'll have a look. And yes, we need that whiteboard…
[16:16:30] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> and perhaps soon there will be a stack of macos changes to add to the
whiteboard, as I finally got a chance to look at the whole
apple-silicon and macos-monterey stack from Marcio
[16:17:09] <meffie> yay
[16:18:31] <wiesand> Hmm, I don't see any recent changes owned by you in gerrit for stable-1_8_x. Could you give me the list please? (Or maybe I misunderstood "already pulled from master?)
[16:18:54] <Cheyenne> I have a local branch that I've pulled up the changes..
[16:19:08] <Cheyenne> I can give you a list
[16:19:17] <wiesand> ah, ok, thanks
[16:20:16] <wiesand> anything else on 1.8.x?
[16:20:48] <meffie> i have nothing
[16:21:02] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I also have nothing for 1.8.x
[16:21:20] <wiesand> on to 1.9/master then?
[16:21:26] <Cheyenne> Nothing here.. I'll send wiesand the list of master gerrits that were needed for 1.8.x for clang-13
[16:21:50] <wiesand> Thanks!
[16:23:08] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I'm not sure how much I have to actually discuss for master.
I think there are a few changes on the aforementioned macos stack of
changes that await a reply or action from Marcio but are for the most
part straightforward
[16:23:25] <Cheyenne> So linux 5.18 news.  readpages is now "gone".. filesystems must now implement readahead instead (which is almost the same functionality as readpages)
[16:23:51] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> "fun"
[16:24:22] <Cheyenne> slightly different parameter list and slightly different operations.. I'm just trying to get my head wrapped around the differences at the moment.
[16:26:17] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (I'm sitting here in my armchair wondering why you want readahead to
not-page granularity, but no need to answer that.)
[16:28:41] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I also merged a handful of things that I had apparently +2'd some time
ago but didn't merge at the time (possibly because they needed a
rebase?  I didn't look very hard)
[16:31:51] <meffie> ah, the tests changes, thank you
[16:32:59] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I still need to reply to Andrew on 14041, but have had trouble
solidifying my thoughts on the matter
[16:37:26] <wiesand> Anything else to discuss today?
[16:37:40] <meffie> i have nothing else.
[16:38:21] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Nothing here, either.
[16:38:21] <Cheyenne> Nothing here.  I'll email wiesand with that list (or I guess I could create the whiteboard in the openafs wiki and post them there)
[16:38:32] <meffie> i should mention we have some GSoC replies. one submission, and i know more are on the way.
[16:38:47] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> exciting!
[16:39:25] <wiesand> Cheyenne: Whatever you prefer. Mike: Good to hear that.
[16:40:04] <wiesand> So, adjourn? I have a 300+ pages operations manual to study ;-)
[16:40:05] <Cheyenne> I'll try creating the whiteboard -- just to kick it off.
[16:40:07] <meffie> the deadline for GSoC submissions is april 19
[16:40:17] <meffie> have a good day all.
[16:40:24] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Have fun with the reading, Stephan :)
[16:40:37] <Cheyenne> Have a good day all. -- Enjoy the new van Stephan :)
[16:40:54] <wiesand> Thanks a lot everyone!
[16:41:39] wiesand leaves the room
[17:59:05] meffie leaves the room
