[16:01:10] meffie joins the room
[16:59:45] wiesand joins the room
[17:00:17] <wiesand> Hello
[17:01:53] <meffie> greetings from snowy ohio
[17:02:21] <wiesand> on vacation?
[17:02:21] Cheyenne joins the room
[17:02:37] <Cheyenne> hello all
[17:02:40] kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl joins the room
[17:02:42] <meffie> no, just snowing here :)
[17:03:02] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> greetings!  Apparently my client disconnected and I didn't notice :-/
[17:03:32] <wiesand> there was no "left the room" message either
[17:03:53] <wiesand> glad you're back
[17:04:34] <meffie> welcome back, hope you are feeling better.
[17:05:29] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks, I do seem to be feeling recovered.
[17:07:24] <wiesand> I don't have much to report today. Still preparing the bookkeeping for further pullups and first merges.
[17:08:39] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> not much from me, either -- not much free time since I recovered from
being sick.  Still making my way through the ubik-tests change
[17:09:22] <Cheyenne> I have one minor build problem with linux 5.17 from last week (just needed to add a @CFLAGS_NOERROR@ for one of the external files due to new compiler flag in Linux kernel)
[17:09:36] <Cheyenne> but I'm just now building with the latest pull from linux repo
[17:11:01] <Cheyenne> And the gentoo folks threw an "interesting" twist to the kernel build.. building the Linux kernel with clang breaks openafs build (though it appears to be some easy patches)
[17:11:34] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Interesting ... FreeBSD is building with clang for some time, so
hopefully this is confined to the linux-specific files.
[17:11:43] <Cheyenne> yes
[17:13:25] <Cheyenne> mostly autoconf, one makefile and one minor source code (changing an assignment to simply use NULL instead of trying to cast zero for a pointer to a proc)
[17:13:57] <wiesand> is there a gerrit change yet?
[17:14:08] <Cheyenne> no not yet.  I've been busy elsewhere..
[17:15:29] <wiesand> Looking at 14876 - that one is probably for 1.8.x too?
[17:16:11] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> yeah, that would make sense
[17:17:08] <Cheyenne> yeah.. probably not as critical as I think that is really only needed for 13302 .. but it can't hurt.
[17:18:45] <Cheyenne> 14775 is a clang related patch that's not yet in 1.8 (it's for clang-13).  It will need a little bit of tweaking for 1.8.x I think
[17:19:44] <wiesand> 14775 is on my todo list
[17:19:53] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Is it something that could be done as "mostly clean cherry pick plus
separate commit for 1.8-specific stuff"?
[17:20:32] <Cheyenne> either there is a pre-req commit, or a hunk needs to be dropped (ubik/remote.c)
[17:21:22] <Cheyenne> 1.8 ubik/remote.c is still using a variable that master has stopped using
[17:21:24] <meffie> is there anything i need to do for 14770 and 14771? maybe a rebase on master?
[17:22:25] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Hmm, probably worth rebasing, yes.
[17:22:41] <meffie> ok, will do.
[17:23:01] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks.  Sorry to have not gotten to them yet.
[17:23:31] <meffie> no worries. it looks like the next gcc is coming in april i think.
[17:24:15] <meffie> it would be good to have enable warnings again
[17:24:33] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> indeed
[17:27:42] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> are we winding down already?
[17:27:56] <meffie> i think so.
[17:29:10] <wiesand> I have no further topics
[17:29:15] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I will try to do better for next week
[17:29:18] <meffie> (14770 and 14771 cherry-pick cleanly to master, will push to gerrit)
[17:31:47] <meffie> ok here's a photo of the snow here today ;) http://download.sinenomine.net/user/mmeffie/photos/snow.jpg
[17:32:10] <Cheyenne> oohhh.. pretty   (I like snow)
[17:32:30] <meffie> for afs users /afs/sinenomine.net/user/mmeffie/public/photos/snow.jpg
[17:32:32] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> You live in/outside Denver, right?  "You'd better like snow" :)
[17:32:50] <Cheyenne> in the foothills nw of Boulder
[17:33:06] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Ah.  But still...
[17:33:28] <wiesand> So do I. Lovely. We had some very thin layer of snow this morning, but it was all gone by noon :-(
[17:34:20] <Cheyenne> last spring there was a forecast of very a very heavy snow storm (they were initially predicting several feet).  Everyone in the little town I live in was like "YES!!"
[17:34:43] <Cheyenne> we are a weird bunch :)
[17:35:23] <Cheyenne> wiesand: I'll let you know what's needed for 14775 for 1.8.x
[17:35:24] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Snow is nice if you and everyone around you is prepared for it.
We don't often get much snow around here so some drivers act unwisely
[17:35:59] <wiesand> We had a winter here a while ago where the snow had to be brought out of towns with trucks. I liked it a lot.
[17:37:31] <meffie> ok, have a good day all. stay well.
[17:37:54] <wiesand> Let's djourn. Thanks a lot everyone!
[17:38:07] <Cheyenne> thanks.. everyone stay safe/well.
[17:38:31] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> thanks all; have a good week
