[15:54:31] meffie joins the room
[16:01:04] <wiesand> Hello
[16:01:10] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> greetings
[16:01:13] <meffie> hello
[16:03:52] <wiesand> Not much news from me today. I'm still holding my horses…
[16:03:58] <mvita2> present - sorry for my tardiness
[16:04:32] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> And I failed to walk my horses much farther either, which feels a bit
like a stalemate or deadlock :-/
[16:05:17] <meffie> at least you have horses.
[16:06:56] <wiesand> any idea how to brek that knot?
[16:06:58] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> That reminds me of a line from a Stan Freberg parody US history, in
the sketch about Washington crossing the Deleware (prior to valley
forge): "all right, all right, hold your horses"  "we...we ate the
horses, sir"
[16:07:00] <wiesand> break
[16:07:16] <wiesand> heh
[16:07:31] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I think you should leave your holding pattern and proceed
[16:08:19] <wiesand> Ok, I'll start pulling up for the next maintenance release.
[16:08:40] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> thanks.  Sorry for causing things to stall
[16:09:42] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Though, on an anti-stall front, Cheyenne's request for the gerrit
config prompted me to note that we used to be specifying a 256MB java
heap size for gerrit on a machine with 8GB of RAM (shared across
multiple services, to be fair, but still well provisioned).  I bumped
that up, and my initial reaction seems to be that gerrit is more
responsive now
[16:10:56] <meffie> neat!
[16:12:08] <mvita2> thank you
[16:12:08] <wiesand> Good idea, thanks. Finding the sweet spot for java heap space tends to be "interesting".
[16:12:42] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> That's what I hear, yes
[16:14:24] <wiesand> So, expect 1.8.x to regain momentum over the next week.
[16:14:39] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> good news!
[16:15:14] <meffie> thank you wiesand.
[16:15:35] <wiesand> There seems to have been quite a bit of activity on master lately though.
[16:16:47] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> some activity, at least
[16:20:19] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I'm going to put some time in today, but I don't really have anything
I planned to talk about other than the gerrit config thing I already
mentioned
[16:21:22] <meffie> just wanted to mention, i added a debian 11 (rc3) builder to the buildbot the other day.
[16:21:51] <wiesand> good, thanks
[16:22:35] <meffie> also, this morning i removed the very old, and past end of life fedora workers from the gerrit triggered and nightly triggered schedulers.
[16:23:03] <wiesand> makes sense
[16:23:13] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> yes, thanks for that
[16:24:03] <wiesand> Shall we keep it brief today then?
[16:24:20] <meffie> i will need to ask Derek Atins if he can provide a newer fedoras. the newest one we have is already eol.
[16:24:31] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> > keep it brief today then?
might as well
[16:24:56] <wiesand> (BTW Chaskiel approved the 1.8.8 announcement - it was the accidental mail to -security that caught his attention ;-)
[16:24:57] <meffie> i have nothing else.
[16:25:09] <meffie> LOL
[16:25:36] <wiesand> Anything else for today anyone?
[16:25:38] <meffie> i think we found a loop hole to make sure he tends the moderation queue :)
[16:26:08] <wiesand> I'm extremely hesitatnt to abuse a security channel for that ;-)
[16:26:27] <mvita2> nothing additional here
[16:26:28] <meffie> yes, please do not, it was in jest.
[16:26:28] <wiesand> Though it came to mind, of course ;-)
[16:27:02] <meffie> have a good weekend all.
[16:27:21] <Cheyenne> Hello all (sorry -- I was in a meeting)
[16:27:28] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Hi Cheyenne
[16:27:32] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> we were just finishing...
[16:27:42] <Cheyenne> perfect timing then :)
[16:27:52] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Did you have any topics to cover?
[16:28:02] <Cheyenne> I haven't tried the linux builds this week (yet)
[16:28:07] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> ok
[16:28:15] <Cheyenne> thanks for the gerrit config info.
[16:28:34] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Sure thing, and thanks for asking about it -- it prompted me to look
at the java heap size :)
[16:29:27] <Cheyenne> I've been trying to find ways to detect (and catch) stalled buildbot workers -- I can detect certain cases, but there are some that still just hang
[16:30:36] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> even partial detection is better than nothing! :)
[16:31:38] <wiesand> Ok, let's adjourn? I have to mow a piece of lawn, and then water water water…
[16:31:50] <meffie> Cheyenne: you might want to ask on the buildbot irc, it is pretty active.
[16:32:05] <Cheyenne> I have a question out there already :)
[16:32:09] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> sounds good.  Hopefully the temperature is pleasant for you; we have a
heat wave again here
[16:32:14] <meffie> excellent.
[16:32:40] <meffie> that was for cheyenne, not the heat wave ;)
[16:32:47] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I figured :)
[16:33:05] <wiesand> next heat wave here is coming in - that's why I either get that grass cut today or …
[16:33:36] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Ah.
[16:33:41] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Well, don't let us keep you from it!
[16:34:36] <wiesand> Ok, CU next week. I' optimistic that then we'll have a lot more to discuss.
[16:34:47] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> +1
[16:34:55] <Cheyenne> Have a safe week everyone :)
[16:58:47] wiesand leaves the room
[19:28:21] meffie leaves the room
[21:32:42] mbarbosa leaves the room
