[16:01:35] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Greetings
[16:01:45] <yadayada> hi all
[16:02:35] <mvita2> Hi!
[16:03:12] meffie joins the room
[16:03:20] <meffie> greetings.
[16:03:35] <wiesand> Hello
[16:05:15] <mvita2> I'm in a twisty little ifdef maze, all different
[16:05:32] <meffie> xyzzy
[16:06:06] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> reindent!  reindent!
[16:06:07] <Cheyenne> Hi all
[16:06:50] <wiesand> Not much news from here today.I got my
[16:07:44] <wiesand> 2nd covid jab this week, and this time the side effects are much worse than the 1st time.
[16:08:03] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> That is what I hear from a lot of people, yes.
[16:08:09] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> "That means you can tell it's working, right?"
[16:08:46] <wiesand> Right, I'm happy it is this way. I'm just not all that well...
[16:09:20] <meffie> contrats on your 2nd shot
[16:10:06] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Understood
[16:10:23] <wiesand> Thanks, yes I'm very happy. Especially now. When I read the news today, it sees the whole world has come to the conclusion that the pandemic is over. Well, maybe withe the exception of India…
[16:10:27] <Cheyenne> I felt miserable the day after (so did my wife), but then I was fine
[16:10:48] yadayada leaves the room
[16:11:47] <wiesand> Hmm, hope I didn't say anything that put Yadav off…
[16:12:12] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> My sister reports that the second pfizer dose was not super bad for
her, which leaves me a little hopeful that I will be productive the
weekend after next.
[16:12:41] yadayada joins the room
[16:13:26] <meffie> i had a bit of a headache for a day after the 2nd moderna shot.
[16:13:57] <meffie> welcome back yadayada
[16:14:24] <Cheyenne> I got the 2nd shot in the afternoon, the next day mid morning was when I started to feel blah (I just crawled into bed and kind of slept) and by the next morning I was fine.
[16:14:47] <yadayada> Thanks Mike I was also not feeling well last week so was unable to join
[16:16:29] <wiesand> Thanks, it's good to know I'm not alone (not many people to compare with here - I'm among the 1st 8% with two shots).
[16:17:10] <wiesand> So, the status is pretty much the same as lat week: vol-bless to go in, bigsur awaiting review.
[16:17:21] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I also did not get much done this week; there were quite a few
semi-urgent things that came up.  (I have five hours straight of
meetings today, for example.)
[16:17:45] <wiesand> yikes
[16:17:48] <mvita2> reviewing big-sur stuff now
[16:19:02] <meffie> kaduk, i verified gerrit integration is working on they new host (openafs-prod-app-1.mit.edu)
[16:19:15] <wiesand> Thanks. What Andrew commented in 14605 is helpful and made confident enough to remove my -2s. But it's a non-trivial stack.
[16:19:41] <meffie> i am not sure how to check if the web ui is working tho.
[16:19:41] mbarbosa leaves the room
[16:19:59] mbarbosa joins the room
[16:20:32] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks Mike!
[16:21:17] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I will try to take a look at how to get a more useful picture of the
web side for the new buildbot this weekend -- it is a long weekend for
me.  I just have to not be too greedy about what I think I will do...
[16:22:02] <meffie> it is currently set to use port 8011. i can change that if needed.
[16:22:40] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> okay.  I just have to remember to put the apache config in a place
that will not get stomped on by puppet...
[16:23:12] <meffie> also, i setup a github webhook so changes merged to the buildbot configuration (in openafs-contrib/afsbotcfg on github) are automatically deployed.
[16:23:31] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> !!
[16:23:43] <yadayada> I had tried ansible playbooks last week. Till now things look good. Thanks for new changes Mike. I was also looking into crowdstrike LSM issue, trying to find if we can bypass LSM while opening cache file. Till now haven't found such API. Still digging
[16:23:43] yadayada leaves the room
[16:23:50] yadayada joins the room
[16:24:04] <meffie> you will see a new README in /home/buildbot on both the old and new hosts.
[16:24:19] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> excellent
[16:24:22] <meffie> thanks yadayada
[16:26:22] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> On the master/1.9 front, I've seen mail go by from gerrit about what
looks like good stuff and positive reviews; I just need to catch up
with that activity
[16:26:23] <meffie> also to report Cheyenne has created an ansible molecule/robot framework based test called timewarp to set the time to the future, we tested some times between now and 2031
[16:27:03] <meffie> maybe is it something we can setup for nightly test on the buildbot.
[16:28:54] <Cheyenne> quick status for Linux 5.13-pre-rc1 -- master and 1.8.x still build cleanly
[16:29:09] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks Cheyenne!
[16:29:54] <wiesand> Yes, thanks a lot!
[16:31:24] <meffie> kaduk, i think cheyenne and andrew were looking for some direction on gerrit 14577;  do we need a new rpc opcode for bozo, or can we extend the string length? seems people are leaning toward the latter?
[16:33:48] <wiesand> Is 12180 something we want in 1.8?
[16:34:38] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I see you're on the ball with things I just merged a few minutes ago
:)
[16:34:50] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> It should probably go to 1.8 eventually but is not urgent.
[16:35:51] <mvita2> agreed on 12180
[16:35:58] <wiesand> Best time to ask, isn't it. Thaks, I put it on the list.
[16:36:07] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I should probably think about the 14577 question a bit before
answering, as the forward- and backward-compatibility considerations
should be worked through.  I will tentatively put it on the list for
this weekend...
[16:36:46] <Cheyenne> thanks
[16:37:37] <meffie> (in general, maybe we need to add the capability rpc to all the servers.)
[16:38:10] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Yeah, long-term we will want the capability RPC everywhere.  So far
we've just been adding it as a need arises
[16:39:18] <mvita2> for example:  both rxgk and ipv6 support
[16:43:24] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Were there other topics we wanted to try to discuss today?
[16:44:23] <mvita2> yes please:  https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/q/status:open+project:openafs+branch:master+topic:cache-metrics
[16:44:51] <mvita2> has a few +1, could you please take a look and see if you are ready and willing to accept?
[16:45:46] <mvita2> not targeted for 1.8.x
[16:46:17] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I'll also put that on the list for this weekend, sure.  It looks like
I did look at at least some of the changes already...
[16:47:28] <mvita2> except 14195 - you could make a case for putting that in 1.8.x eventually
[16:47:41] <mvita2> one could, that is
[16:48:26] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> yeah, 14195 looks like it would be fine for 1.8
[16:50:31] <wiesand> We may even want the rest of the stack - code skew…
[16:52:12] <wiesand> And it looks fairly harmless.
[16:52:20] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I guess I can think about that while I am going over the code, too :)
I expect that if I leave a note about 1.8.x (non)suitability in a
comment when merging, that is useful for you?
[16:52:39] <wiesand> Very!
[16:53:56] <mvita2> thank you !
[16:54:23] <wiesand> I have no further topics for today
[16:54:53] <meffie> i have nothing
[16:55:12] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> And we are almost at the top of the hour, so perhaps a motion to
adjourn is in order
[16:55:38] <meffie> 2nd
[16:55:41] <Cheyenne> 3rd
[16:55:41] <wiesand> Fine, let's adjourn.
[16:55:47] <yadayada> thanks all
[16:55:48] <wiesand> Thanks a lot everybody!
