[16:59:55] <wiesand> Hi
[17:00:01] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> greetings
[17:00:09] <cwills> Hello all
[17:00:17] <yadayada> hello all
[17:00:26] <mvita2> greetings
[17:02:08] <wiesand> The changes Mark brought up last week were pulled up after the meeting, reviewed since, and merged today.
[17:02:19] <mvita2> yay, thank you very much!
[17:02:28] <wiesand> (That's 14513..5)
[17:03:14] <wiesand> I'm afraid that's all I have to report today.
[17:03:57] <wiesand> Any other 1.8.x news? How's Linux 5.11 doing?
[17:04:01] <meffie> thank you wiesand!
[17:04:25] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Can you remind us what's left for a pre1?
[17:04:49] <cwills> 5.11 is still building clean.  I did a build earlier this morning (and redoing the 1.8.x build right now since there is 3 new commits)
[17:06:11] <wiesand> Ben: Not much. Mainly NEWS. If feasible, FBSD and Big Sur. And there's 10831 on the wish list but probably not trivial to backport.
[17:06:47] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I am still making my way through a (hopefully final) pass at the
BigSur/sockproxy change :(
[17:07:03] <meffie> yay!
[17:07:23] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Is NEWS something that you could/should crowdsource help on?
[17:08:43] <wiesand> I hope to get up a first shot "r.s.n.". Then help will be much appreciated.
[17:09:06] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Sounds good
[17:10:55] <wiesand> Any other late additions wanted for 1.8.8?
[17:11:35] <meffie> none from me.
[17:11:45] <cwills> nothing here..
[17:11:58] <wiesand> Taking the silence as a "no", on to master/1.9?
[17:12:17] <mvita2> nothing from me for 1.8.8
[17:13:16] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> A slow week AFS-wise for me; Akamai announced a big re-org at its
investor report on Tuesday and the rest of the week has been full of
surprise new meetings.  (I'm fine, my team is fine, and the work I/we
do is not changing.)
[17:14:03] <wiesand> phew
[17:14:30] <meffie> re-orgs are always full of excitement.
[17:14:33] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> But I did merge a couple things -- kstat and AFS_MOUNT_AFS
[17:14:53] <meffie> thanks!
[17:15:01] <cwills> I've updated the LINUX_ENV cleanup with the latest feedback (minor comment update and re-basing)
[17:15:05] <wiesand> Is any of that meant ot land on 1.8.x?
[17:15:23] <mvita2> <unfortunately misread excitement as excrement>
[17:15:34] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I think I have the LINUX_ENV cleanup open in a tab to look at "next"
(for some value of "next")
[17:16:08] <mvita2> yes, thank you for the kstats merge
[17:16:22] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thank you for the kstats update!
[17:16:52] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> It might be simpler to not do LINUX_ENV cleanup on 1.8?  But I guess
if we run into merge conflicts we'll have to think about it.
[17:17:05] <meffie> wiesand: it would be nice to have the solaris kstats support in 1.8.x
[17:17:11] <mvita2> kstats is nice to have in 1.8.x
[17:17:16] <mvita2> (ninjad)
[17:17:29] <meffie> jinx, you owe me a coke.
[17:17:30] <wiesand> Know what's much worse than a re-org? The threat of a major re-org, but nothing happens, for years.
[17:17:51] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Oof
[17:18:03] <wiesand> Solaris kstats request noted.
[17:18:23] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> like the sword of damocles ready to fall
[17:18:56] <wiesand> Right.
[17:19:15] <wiesand> Solaris kstats == 13170?
[17:19:36] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> There were three commits in the topic
[17:19:37] <mvita2> correct
[17:19:53] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> But that's the main one (last one)
[17:20:07] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/q/topic:solaris-kstats+(status:open+OR+status:merged)
[17:20:32] <wiesand> ah, ok, 13168,13278, 13170 - I'll try to take care of thos
[17:21:49] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I don't think I have anything else for master/today
[17:22:25] <wiesand> Given that 1.9.0 is broken, how a bout a 1.9.1?
[17:22:39] <cwills> (rebuild of 1.8.x w/latest commits  is still clean with linux 5.11)
[17:22:48] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I could be convinced to do a 1.9.1, sure.
[17:22:50] <wiesand> Thanks Cheyenne!
[17:23:44] <meffie> i could help with 1.9.1 NEWS
[17:24:08] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Help with 1.9.1 NEWS would be good -- at least there's a fairly clear
window of commits to look at
[17:24:22] <meffie> ok, will do.
[17:24:30] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks!
[17:25:04] <wiesand> And I could probably steal a lot of it for the 1.8.8 NEW S;-)
[17:25:29] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> :)
[17:25:34] <meffie> ok, i'll make it a priority :)
[17:26:11] <wiesand> Anything else to discuss today?
[17:26:33] <meffie> fyi, Christof Hanke has submitted a fixed openafs.spec for SuSE at it was released for the various SuSE releases.
[17:27:07] <wiesand> Good news.
[17:27:12] <meffie> so the rpms actually contain 1.8.7 (and not a bunch of other changes)
[17:28:00] <meffie> that's all i have.
[17:28:02] <wiesand> I assume 1.8.7 + recent Linux kernel changes.
[17:28:16] <meffie> yes
[17:28:54] <meffie> yes, i should have written 1.8.7+just needed linux patches.
[17:29:32] <wiesand> It also seems the first "1.8.7" (actually, master) builds weren't all that broken ;-)
[17:29:42] <meffie> yes :)
[17:29:43] <wiesand> BTW how was it noticed?
[17:30:20] <meffie> we had some patches that failed to apply in the spec file.
[17:30:32] <meffie> cheyenne figure it out.
[17:30:52] <wiesand> Ah nice. No failures in the field then?
[17:32:16] <meffie> none reported. just missing our patch for 13926 (and some others) that have not be merged in openafs yet
[17:33:36] <meffie> that's all i have.
[17:34:02] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Is that a motion to adjourn?
[17:34:22] <wiesand> Sounds like a settled hint…
[17:34:29] <meffie> ha
[17:34:58] <wiesand> Fine, let's adjourn. Thanks a lot everybody!
[17:35:20] <meffie> thanks everyone. have a safe week.
[17:35:41] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks everyone!
