[15:56:01] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> FWIW I did restart gerrit last night since some of the builders had
seem 502s when trying to 'git update'
[15:58:58] <mvita2> thank you
[15:59:19] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I guess the fedora builders are still AWOL, though, so we're a bit
stuck regardless
[16:00:11] <mvita2> Cheyenne says he pinged the owner of the Fedora workers
[16:00:19] cwills joins the room
[16:00:33] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Yeah, I think I was cc'd on that.
[16:00:34] wiesand joins the room
[16:00:35] wiesand leaves the room
[16:00:36] <cwills> Hello
[16:00:36] wiesand joins the room
[16:00:47] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Good $timeofday!
[16:00:47] <yadayada> Hello all
[16:01:05] <mvita2> salutations!
[16:01:21] <wiesand> Hello
[16:01:48] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I hope Mike remembered to have cake -- this week was all over the
place and I kind of lost track of time
[16:02:03] <mvita2> I am not expecting meffie today, he is out of the office
[16:02:16] <mvita2> but maybe he will surprise us
[16:02:26] <wiesand> Cycling, IIRC?
[16:02:32] <cwills> Yes
[16:02:33] <mvita2> yes
[16:02:55] <mvita2> so I will provide the minutes of today's meeting
[16:03:21] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks Mark
[16:03:36] <cwills> I did ping the owner of the fedora buildbot workers, but I haven't heard back from him yet.
[16:03:36] <wiesand> It's one hour early for me today. Starting next week, we'll meet an hour later (in GMT) since the US will return to standard time on Sunday, right?
[16:03:48] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Yes.
[16:03:56] <yadayada> sure
[16:03:57] <cwills> Yes -- it's Deja Vu weekend
[16:04:59] <wiesand> Not much to report from my side, sadly. Some progress shortly after the last meeting, but that's it.
[16:06:06] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> "some progress", like merging all changes currently pending for 1.8.x
other than the version-number bump for pre1?
[16:06:13] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Such modesty...
[16:06:44] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (I forget, though, if there was something we were waiting to hit
master so it could make 1.8.7pre1.)
[16:07:15] <wiesand> Well, there's still a number of changes on the 1.8.7 wish list. And the NEWS to be written (though I hope I can copy a lot from the 1.9.0 ones).
[16:08:22] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Anything we should talk about today in terms of wish list vs go ahead
with what we have?
[16:08:33] <wiesand> No, I think you merged on master what we want in 1.8.7. It's just up to me to pull them up.
[16:08:44] <meffie> (i'm back from the ride, we got rained out by zeta :)
[16:08:46] <mvita2> https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/c/14411/
[16:09:18] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Mike: but do you have cake? ;)
[16:09:22] <wiesand> Give me another week?
[16:09:31] <mvita2> https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/q/status:merged+project:openafs+branch:master+topic:rxstats
[16:09:35] <mvita2> hi Mike
[16:09:57] <meffie> hello!
[16:10:01] <wiesand> let me check...
[16:10:20] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> > Just up to me to pull them up.  Give me another week?
Sure, we can take another week and make some pullups
[16:10:24] <mvita2> Mike I'm preparing the minutes so you can just relax and enjoy the mtg
[16:11:28] <meffie> heh thanks. let me give the the output of the "recent patches" script.
[16:11:40] <meffie> i attach it to the bottom.
[16:13:43] <wiesand> added 14411 and rxstats to the wish list
[16:14:10] <mvita2> thanks - what else is on the list?
[16:16:05] <wiesand> 14342 + 14340
[16:16:14] <wiesand> 14329 + 14330
[16:16:56] <wiesand> NB 14374 and "maybe" 14375/6 actually were on it
[16:17:17] <meffie> mvita2: /afs/sinenomine.net/user/mmeffie/public/openafs/release-team/2020-10-30.txt
[16:17:27] <wiesand> possibly: 14294 + 14295
[16:17:52] <wiesand> 14213, 14252
[16:18:33] <wiesand> 13827 ( + probably quite a few other aklog related changes)
[16:18:43] <wiesand> FBSD catchup
[16:19:03] <mvita2> wow
[16:19:13] <wiesand> "and that's all
[16:19:15] <mvita2> what's your opinion on https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/c/13382/ ?
[16:20:49] <meffie> (mvita2:  also available via http  http://download.sinenomine.net/user/mmeffie/openafs/release-team/2020-10-30.txt)
[16:21:55] <wiesand> the same as on any other change I'm incapable of really understanding: "review review review"
[16:22:17] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> That one seemed pretty clear-cut to me, FWIW.
[16:22:28] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (13382)
[16:23:02] <wiesand> thanks
[16:23:02] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I am not concerned about having it in 1.8.x
[16:23:37] <mvita2> the last candidates I would like to discuss for 1.8.x are 14381, 14382
[16:23:51] <meffie> yes, it looks like a good candidate for stable, i would not block 1.8.7 on it tho.
[16:25:03] <meffie> it == 13382
[16:25:32] <mvita2> sorry, my eyes tracked the wrong row, I meant 14402, 14381
[16:25:34] <wiesand> noted, thanks
[16:25:53] <mvita2> NOT 14382
[16:28:20] <wiesand> 14402, 14381 seem low risk - and there are a few more bozo changes on the list anyway. added
[16:28:58] <mvita2> thank you
[16:29:50] <wiesand> Many items are straightforward, so I can keep picking low hanging fruit for the time being.
[16:31:12] <wiesand> Some aren't, like I'm trying to make up my mind about 14213. Adapting it to 1.8.x is a one-liner and simple, but adding 14075 seems cleaner.
[16:31:59] <wiesand> So I'll pick the low hanging fruit first ;-)
[16:33:00] <wiesand> That's about what I have for today.
[16:33:14] <yadayada> I did submitted csi plugin for afs in openafs-contrib area. kindly try it and let me know the feedback
[16:34:12] <cwills> did a build with linux-5.10-rc1+ master and 1.8.x still build cleanly
[16:35:07] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks Yadav!
[16:35:11] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Cheyenne: good news!
[16:35:40] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Taking that as an opportunity to switch topics to master...
[16:35:40] <meffie> 14075 is part of the effort to "remove the mkdir /usr/viced/etc" in bosserver, believe it or not.
[16:36:01] <meffie> Congrats Yadav!
[16:37:40] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> we had a bit of a blast from the past this week, with one of Andrew's
changes prompting him and I to independently rediscover an old stack
of changes of mine from 2018 that cleaned up some of our RPC-L and
server RPC routines.  Also, Cheyenne rediscovered some old stuff that
had been sitting around for a couple years
[16:38:04] <wiesand> Thanks Cheyenne.
[16:38:35] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (that was 13382, it looks like)
[16:39:41] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Other than that, I've been trying to make my way through the
audit-enhancements stack again.  The down fedora buildbot workers has
put a little bit of crimp in those efforts, but I can keep going with
the review even if the number of things that are merged is stuck.
[16:40:11] <cwills> I'm re-working the cleaning up the AFS_LINUXnn_ENV stuff to go to just AFS_LINUX_ENV (_USR_ as well)
[16:40:26] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Sounds good; thanks again for taking that on
[16:41:17] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I also have the lock-hygiene topic open in a tab but have forgotten
where I left off on it
[16:42:10] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> But I think that's probably about it from me.
[16:42:34] <mvita2> Ben, you could wait until the next ps on lock-hygiene - I'm going to remove INSTRUMENT_LOCK altogether
[16:42:47] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Okay, thanks for the heads-up, Mark.
[16:43:05] <mvita2> that should make things a bit cleaner
[16:43:54] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I guess, responding to the RT ticket with 1.9.0 report reminded me
that we use roken's rename and upstream heimdal changed the
implementation name to use an rk_ prefix, so anyone building with
external roken needs to patch our source at the moment.  I think it
should be fairly straightforward for us to make our sources compatible
with either name, if anyone was interested in taking a look.
[16:45:07] <meffie> hmm, do we have a patch in gerrit for this? it sounds so familiar.
[16:45:52] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> We have a couple attempts at pulling in a newer heimdal import, which
may be what you're remembering
[16:45:58] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (That would also solve this problem)
[16:46:29] <meffie> ah, i'm thinking of 8bf89fdbc251822b6a3149088f5634bb40e5c225 already merged
[16:47:21] <meffie> different issue, but related to roken rename?
[16:47:29] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I think so, yeah
[16:47:50] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Oops, apparently I misremembered about it being rename
[16:47:59] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> It is actually base64 that is problematic
[16:48:05] <meffie> ah, ok.
[16:49:04] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (see
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/openafs/-/blob/master/debian/patches/0003-Catch-up-to-roken-s-rename-of-base64-symbols.patch)
[16:50:41] <meffie> ok
[16:50:55] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Anything else for today?
[16:51:31] <wiesand> Not from my side.
[16:51:43] <wiesand> (and my inner clock is still on DST…)
[16:51:52] <yadayada> nothing else from my side
[16:52:08] <cwills> nothing here.
[16:52:09] <meffie> i have nothing.
[16:52:10] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Happy 20th, OpenAFS!
[16:52:16] <mvita2> CAKE!
[16:52:17] <cwills> Yay!
[16:52:21] <wiesand> Tomorrow they'll commission our new airport too!
[16:52:37] <meffie> really? great news :)
[16:52:53] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> ==meffie
[16:52:57] <wiesand> I had a ticket for a flight from it in 2012 :-)
[16:53:08] <meffie> have a good weekend
[16:53:26] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks everyone; have a good weekend!
[16:53:40] <wiesand> Of course, now nobody needs a new airport anymore, and the old one would have done for many more years…
[16:53:53] <mvita2> au revoir!
[16:54:06] <wiesand> Thanks a lot everybody. Have a good weekend, stay safe.
[16:56:14] meffie leaves the room
[16:59:05] yadayada leaves the room
[17:12:19] cwills leaves the room
[17:41:10] wiesand leaves the room
[21:43:26] mbarbosa leaves the room
