[15:54:32] cwills joins the room
[15:56:33] yadayada joins the room
[15:57:17] wiesand joins the room
[15:58:17] <wiesand> Good morning USA, good evening India.
[15:58:34] <yadayada> Hi All
[15:58:35] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Good ... afternoon(?) Europe
[15:58:59] <wiesand> Pretty late afternoon, yes.
[16:00:17] <meffie> good afternoon/morning
[16:00:27] <meffie> evening
[16:00:43] <cwills> Good day
[16:00:57] <wiesand> It's part of the problem: After the meeting I have to slave in the garden, then it's late and I vow to myself "I'll do it over the weekend". During the weekend then I really fell like having a weekend lately. And then its the beginning of the week and things are really busy. And then it's almost Friday again ;-0
[16:02:12] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> pretty similar here, though sometimes it's s/feel like having a
weekend/need to toil on the house/
[16:03:07] <wiesand> But I finally whipped up a new version of gerrit 14078 (though about a week later than I had intended). May I bother you to have a look?
[16:03:59] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I had just gotten the email about that one, so yes!
[16:07:08] <yadayada> had a look , looks good to me
[16:10:40] <meffie> looks good to me. just a typo s/ithe/the/
[16:11:03] <wiesand> Thanks for the comments. Pushed PS4.
[16:12:11] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Are you a vi user?  These typos are looking familiar...
[16:12:49] <wiesand> And PS5…
[16:13:11] <wiesand> Yes, I'm using vi ;-)
[16:13:20] <meffie> ah, vi/vim! yes.
[16:13:25] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> "patch set 4 was rebased"; missing 'git add'?
[16:14:47] <wiesand> See why I really shouldn't do anything serious after having been on my feet for 12+ hours? ;-)
[16:14:53] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> ps6 looks good
[16:17:41] <wiesand> Sigh. Thanks. How about I merge it and bring it live why you go on with master/1.9?
[16:18:15] <meffie> thanks wiesand
[16:18:20] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Sounds good, and thanks
[16:18:36] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I have been setting up a new laptop this week, getting keys/passwords
in place and build environment and such.  It's still a little weird to
actually be able to use the entire screen!  But it does distract some
from actually getting things done.
[16:19:00] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> That said, I did get a few things merged, including the 1.9.0 NEWS
change (with a few more tweaks)
[16:19:57] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Also, we have a new RHEL7 machine at MIT that we can migrate services
over to (from the current RHEL6 machine).
[16:20:26] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> This brings us nice things such as python 3.5 (IIRC) and some other
dependencies that we need in order to use recent versions of buildbot,
gerrit, and the like.
[16:21:55] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I appreciate all the work Andrew and Cheyenne did on the
autoconf-archive imports; having that stuff in place gives us some
good cleanup
[16:22:14] <cwills> I just pushed the change you requested..
[16:22:30] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I approved it, so just waiting for buildbot to catch up, I think.
[16:22:33] <wiesand> Great news. I am curious about that "being able to use the entire screen" though….
[16:23:27] <meffie> me too.
[16:23:30] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> My current guess is that the battery is swelling a little, and this
pinched a ribbon cable going up to the display.  So the bottom 1/5 of
the screen or so either has a bad flicker or is frozen; it's not
really usable for (e.g.) reading text.
[16:23:39] <wiesand> www.openafs.org <http://www.openafs.org> updated, looks good at first glance
[16:24:23] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> The trackpad is also literally on top of the battery, so I get issues
where it thinks there's a "phantom finger" and I can't move the cursor
around.  It's been time to replace it for a while; just been hard to
make the time to move over.
[16:24:51] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Anyway, with the hardware distractions that's about all I have to
report.  Hopefully this coming week will see more progress.
[16:25:39] <meffie> thanks ben
[16:26:02] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Mark, did you get a chance to look at the rxgk-setup notes?
[16:26:29] <meffie> I think cheyenne is going to try
[16:26:33] <mvita2> I looked at them yes, but did not try them out
[16:26:50] <mvita2> and yes, the task has been reassigned to Cheyenne
[16:26:56] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Ah, thanks for the update.
[16:27:03] <meffie> mark was preoccupied with the "sigbus" patches.
[16:27:10] <wiesand> Nightly buildbot runs seem to be failing lately, but I haven't had a closer look yet. Is it just Linux 5.7?
[16:27:15] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (I had to go back and check the minutes, as my memory was still
telling me "Mike")
[16:27:48] <meffie> you thought i could follow directions?
[16:28:05] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I know you can!  With proper supervision, of course. :)
[16:28:13] <meffie> heh.
[16:29:04] <meffie> btw, the silly 'make-rpm' stack looks really close now. just some final nits (commit message typos?)
[16:29:25] <meffie> i hope we can get i merged so it doenst bit rot :)
[16:29:27] <cwills> if you are talking about the linux-rc-x86_64 builder -- then yes it's linux 5.7 related (and there is a gerrit (14159) that should address the problem
[16:30:20] <meffie> you should be able to do a 'force gerrit' to build that gerrit to be sure.
[16:30:45] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Let's see, my priorities for review on master should be looking like
... ubik-reads-during-recovery, chroot-sysname, and afs-dir-pkg?  I am
not sure if the linux_signals stuff is quite ready yet; is it?
[16:30:57] <wiesand> Yes that one, thanks for being a bit more precise than me here.
[16:31:09] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Oh, Mike was saying things while I was typing :)
[16:31:38] <meffie> oops. sorry.
[16:31:38] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I can try to pick that up, too -- it shouldn't take too long as it's
"just" shell scripting and besides, I have to trust you all that it
works anyway :)
[16:31:52] <wiesand> Ben: I'd much appreciate the linux-5.7 topic making it to the top of your list.
[16:32:43] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Ah, yes, that was an oversight.  I should definitely look at linux-5.7
[16:33:07] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Any other hot topics we want to cover today?
[16:34:03] <meffie> i have nothing else.
[16:34:19] <wiesand> nor do i
[16:34:28] <yadayada> nothing from my side too
[16:34:36] <cwills> I will be doing another build against linux 5.7 against rc4 in a bit here
[16:34:56] <wiesand> (and i have to water the front lawn and mow the back one)
[16:34:57] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks again for the 1.8.6pre2 work, Stephan!
[16:35:00] <cwills> can't type.. build against linux 5.7-rc4
[16:35:00] <wiesand> Thanks Cheyenne
[16:35:28] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (yes, thanks Cheyenne)
[16:35:38] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Alright, sounds like time to adjourn then.
[16:35:56] <meffie> have a good weekend
[16:36:01] meffie leaves the room
[16:36:01] <wiesand> Fine' let's adjourn. Thanks a lot everyone!
[16:36:08] yadayada leaves the room
[16:36:10] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks everyone, and have a good weekend!
[16:36:10] <cwills> ben.. just a quick side.. I'm checking the AFS_NORETURN vs break
[16:36:33] <cwills> Anyway .. everyone stay safe
[16:36:48] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Ah, thanks.  It really is just "what does the compiler actually do",
which is out of our control
[16:37:04] <cwills> yeah.. I'll tweak as needed if it works
[16:37:29] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks!
[17:48:04] mbarbosa leaves the room
[17:48:29] mbarbosa joins the room
[22:52:50] cwills leaves the room
[22:59:18] mbarbosa leaves the room
