[12:03:52] mbarbosa joins the room
[15:57:53] mvita joins the room
[16:00:20] <mvita> happy New Year!
[16:00:36] <mvita> are we meeting today?
[16:02:12] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Happy New Year!
[16:02:31] <mvita> yay!
[16:02:34] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I didn't hear anything about not meeting, though IIRC we are scheduled
for one hour (minus epsilon) from now
[16:02:57] <mvita> oh, I have the wrong time, sorry
[16:04:20] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> It's useful -- now I know that my client didn't get silently
disconnected :)
[16:58:32] wiesand joins the room
[16:59:25] <wiesand> Happy New Year!
[16:59:32] 616424af joins the room
[16:59:40] <616424af> happy new year
[16:59:56] 616424af leaves the room
[17:00:07] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Happy new year!
[17:00:19] meffie joins the room
[17:00:31] meffie fixed my handle.
[17:00:37] <meffie> happy new year1
[17:01:04] <mvita> Feliz Navidad!
[17:01:12] <meffie> i was 616424af for some reason.
[17:01:24] <mvita> all better now
[17:01:45] <wiesand> Looks like we do meet
[17:02:04] <mvita> aye
[17:02:25] <wiesand> Sadly, another week during which I didn't get much done.
[17:03:01] <wiesand> There was some progress "behind the scenes though", and I really hope for a prerelease next week.
[17:03:11] <wiesand> Unless Ben has any showstoppers?
[17:03:37] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I don't think so
[17:03:46] <wiesand> Thanks a lot for the 4G fix Mike (& Cheyenne)!
[17:03:51] <wiesand> good
[17:04:06] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Yes, thanks Mike and Cheyenne!
[17:04:45] <meffie> you are welcome
[17:05:46] <meffie> cheyenne also added a test to the openafs robotframework tests for large files.
[17:05:57] <wiesand> great
[17:06:14] <meffie> there was a test already, but the file size was not big enough.
[17:06:37] <mvita> whaddabout 5G  ?  ;-)
[17:06:57] <meffie> the old test was testing ~2G.
[17:07:11] <meffie> the new test is ~5g or so.
[17:07:29] <mvita> (the 4G comments above threw me for a second - thinking about cell phone networks instead of file sizes)
[17:08:16] <wiesand> sorry, the fixes subject line is "afs: Fix EIO error when reading a 4G or larger file"
[17:08:26] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> The cell phone 'G's are shifty lies anyway; consider
http://blog.keithw.org/2013/07/3g-and-me.html
[17:08:36] <meffie> heh
[17:08:48] <meffie> "marketing" i guess
[17:10:16] <wiesand> I think the change introducing the 4GiB problem hasn't been pulled up to 1.8.x, so I don't have to watch out for that one.
[17:10:25] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> That sounds right
[17:11:21] <wiesand> Maybe we should consider pulling up both, just to prevent us from pulling up the bug w/o the fix in a year or so…
[17:11:34] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> not wrong
[17:12:15] <wiesand> I think at the very least I'll pull up the bug, mark it -2 and add a comment why
[17:13:45] <meffie> ok
[17:15:02] <wiesand> It's not a clean cherry-pick right now, but I'll keep it in mind.
[17:15:04] <meffie> could just mention the bug in the already merged gerrit.
[17:16:01] <wiesand> yes, that makes sense too - I'll take care
[17:16:10] <meffie> thanks!
[17:16:18] <wiesand> and that's about it from my side for today
[17:17:12] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I did not get ot look at a huge pile of things this week, and several
of the ones I did look at I left some questions on (and thus didn't
merge)
[17:17:55] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I did wonder, though -- Mike, you left a -1 on 13834 wondering how
useful these conversions are for non-host.c; does that apply to the
subsequent changes as well or just the specific one?
[17:18:19] <meffie> just this one.
[17:19:24] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> okay, thanks
[17:19:51] <meffie> i have an alternative for 13834 now. cheyenne just finished looking at it. i can push it this afternoon.
[17:20:05] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Oh, that's very convenient timing
[17:20:16] <meffie> along with a batch of other vos/vsproc cleanups.
[17:20:42] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> This FBSD stack is growing imposingly large; I should probably try to
make more progress on it soon
[17:21:00] <wiesand> (Cheyenne already added that comment yesterday ;-)
[17:21:10] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (I'm currently stalled on one of the big "remove ifdefs for unsupported
upstream versions" changes, that just takes time to look at)
[17:21:25] <meffie> sorry i'm not very helpful for the FBSD stack. i wish i was.
[17:21:35] <mvita> same here
[17:22:13] <mvita> I am currently working on addressing review comments for https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/q/topic:afs-dir-pkg
[17:22:27] <meffie> nice! thanks
[17:22:38] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Andrew and Tim have been doing pretty good, I think, at least
[17:22:41] <mvita> thank you to everyone who added new reviews in Dec
[17:22:50] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> cool, thanks re afs-dir-pkg
[17:23:20] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I'm failing to remember anything else that needed particular
discussion here
[17:24:00] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I guess maybe, did we already have someone volunteer to write up some
notes for how to set up a test cell using rxgk server-to-server, with
the proposed 1.9.1 development release's code?
[17:25:34] <mvita> I don't know
[17:25:43] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> It may have been me :)
[17:25:47] <meffie> heh
[17:26:13] <wiesand> well, not too many would probably be able to do it ;-)
[17:26:21] <meffie> if i get some notes, an can update ansible-openafs to support it.
[17:26:24] <wiesand> certainly not me
[17:26:35] <meffie> s/an/i can/
[17:26:56] <wiesand> but I can volunteer to proof-read it with the eyes of a dumb site admin ;-)
[17:27:25] <meffie> or mvita can, since he's the most recent person to have commits merged to openafs-contrib/ansible-openafs :)
[17:27:36] <mvita> aye
[17:27:51] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> That's a valuable skill, that proof-reading :)
[17:27:58] <meffie> +1
[17:30:41] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Anything else for today?
[17:30:51] <wiesand> Looks like the conversation is tapering off… any other items to discuss today?
[17:30:54] <mvita> nothing from me
[17:31:45] <wiesand> Fine, let's adjourn then. Thanks a lot everybody!
[17:31:50] <meffie> sorry for the lack of meeting notes lately. i'll resolve to be better
[17:32:11] <mvita> thanks
[17:32:13] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks everyone!
[17:32:38] wiesand leaves the room
[17:34:24] meffie leaves the room
[18:11:23] meffie joins the room
[21:43:15] meffie leaves the room
[21:56:45] mbarbosa leaves the room
