[12:01:08] mbarbosa joins the room
[14:25:10] meffie joins the room
[15:00:08] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I'm on a plane!
[15:01:03] <meffie> ok, have a safe flight!
[15:01:09] <mvita> I'm in my basement!
[15:01:29] <meffie> someone let mark out of the basement!
[15:01:42] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> meffie++
[15:05:24] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Do we know if we are expecting Stephan today?  My memory is completely
wiped
[15:05:46] <mvita> I don't know
[15:06:43] <mvita> perhaps we can give him a few more minutes and discuss 1.9 and master in the meantime
[15:07:19] wiesand joins the room
[15:07:22] <meffie> i could mention the buildbot has been restarted. not sure what went wrong yet.
[15:07:53] <wiesand> sorry, was a bit late anyway, and then connecting took some time
[15:08:05] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I think the plan is to cut 1.9.0 "real soon now"; mostly just needing
the revamped NEWS, which I plan to do this weekend if I get a chance
[15:08:15] <meffie> yay!
[15:08:42] <meffie> the plan is to not "branch" correct? just tag along the master branch?
[15:08:47] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> correct
[15:08:58] <meffie> +1 lgtm
[15:10:11] <wiesand> rolling releases seem pretty popular lately
[15:10:29] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I was travelling this week, so all I got done was on the plane here; I
looked at a few things but didn't get to merge too many
[15:11:07] <wiesand> not much to report here either
[15:11:49] <wiesand> obviously, I'm planning for the next 1.8.x release - lots of pullups already
[15:12:05] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Yeah, I've been seeing the review emails go by
[15:12:37] <wiesand> but two issues seem to be open: Linux 5.4 and macOS Catalina
[15:12:41] <meffie> i think it would be helpful if we could have the hand full of commits to fix the windows build errors
[15:13:10] <meffie> cheyenne has been testing with linux 5.4rc
[15:13:33] <meffie> there are some upstream linux issues he is tracking
[15:13:49] <meffie> and maybe a change we will need to make for 5.4
[15:13:59] <wiesand> yes, but I haven't checked for conflicts with the other changes yet - and I don't want to get 1.8 into the same messy state 1.6 is still in
[15:14:20] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Understandable
[15:14:22] <wiesand> (this was on windows build errors)
[15:14:39] <meffie> if we get the windows fixes merged first, then i can rebase stuff on that to verify the builds then.
[15:14:50] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Looking at RT reminds me of 13868; I think we talked about it on
jabber a few weeks ago but I don't remember if I should be doing
something for it
[15:14:53] <wiesand> in addition, I was asked to hold my merge horses for the time being…
[15:15:03] <meffie> currently buildbot is not verifying stuff manually.
[15:15:53] <mvita> no, Ben, I think 13868 is in my court
[15:16:11] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Okay, I feel better.  (Consider yourself reminded?)
[15:16:14] <meffie> it's not super urgent, just saying it would be helpful to have those first.
[15:16:22] <mvita> smooth  ;-(
[15:16:34] <mvita> oops, wrong paren ;-)
[15:17:31] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I have not really gotten a chance to look at RF 135019's possible
causes
[15:18:43] <mvita> This is my first time seeing this ticket
[15:19:46] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> "Now you know"
[15:20:22] <mvita> it's intriguing
[15:21:22] <wiesand> no such issues in my cell
[15:21:56] <wiesand> thank heaven
[15:22:12] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> It sounds pretty frustrating, operationally, yes
[15:23:15] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Have we heard anything recently from Andrew about chances for
rxgk-part2?
[15:23:27] <mvita> I know he's working on it
[15:23:34] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> yay!
[15:23:37] <mvita> I don't know where he stands
[15:24:01] <mvita> meffie?
[15:24:05] <meffie> yes, work in progess, patches soon
[15:24:07] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I don't need an ETA or anything, just happy to hear it's happening
[15:24:40] <meffie> sounds like patches are coming soon, and we will have stuff to test and review.
[15:24:52] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> sounds good
[15:25:14] <meffie> i'd like to have some content on wiki.openafs.org to help people get started with rxgk :)
[15:25:55] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I need to lok at what he wrote as comments on the sysname-rewrite
stuff, where I asked for help figuring out what was going on
[15:26:25] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Yeah, I should probably write some content to go along with 1.9.0.
Not sure if the wiki is best, but I don't have a reason why it
wouldn't work.
[15:27:30] <meffie> well, 2 reasons. it's ugly and not well maintained. ;)
[15:28:03] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> It seems like a more lasting resource than some random other webpage,
though.
[15:29:03] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> The german-language debian wiki is in worse shape, though -- I had
someone complain that following the 10+ year-old instructions there
resulted in a setup that doesn't work with the latest krb5 (fully
disabling single-DES)
[15:29:04] <meffie> maybe we need to make some new files in doc?
[15:29:33] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Perhaps; that's something we can think about
[15:29:36] <meffie> and have those render on openafs.org.
[15:29:44] <meffie> yes.
[15:29:49] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> But not today, at least for me; the jet lag is kicking in...
[15:30:18] <meffie> ok
[15:30:37] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Are we at "any other topics" now?
[15:30:52] <wiesand> seems we are
[15:31:00] <meffie> none here. just trying to review gerrits in the backlog.
[15:31:25] <mvita> nothing from me, still thinking about the RT report
[15:31:27] <meffie> oh, i thought you asked any other topics...
[15:31:29] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I'm sure there are some still holding -2s that should be resurrected
[15:33:04] <meffie> hopefully we can make progress on pthreaded-bos before finding more zombies to fight.
[15:33:36] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Indeed.  (I won't complain if someone uploads a new rev to fix the
things I commented on, though I do plan to do it eventually
otherwise.)
[15:34:23] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Anyway, motion to adjourn?
[15:34:33] <meffie> ok, thanks ben.
[15:35:05] <mvita> safe travels
[15:35:15] <meffie> have a safe trip
[15:35:22] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks!
[15:36:17] <wiesand> re -2s: https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/q/status:open+project:openafs+branch:master+label:Code-Review-2
[15:37:04] <wiesand> Let's adjourn then. Thanks a lot everybody!
[15:37:10] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks everyone!
