[12:02:00] mbarbosa joins the room
[14:55:38] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Okay, so we're expecting to be down a meffie today, right?
[15:01:09] wiesand joins the room
[15:01:46] <wiesand> that's what he said last week, right
[15:01:53] <wiesand> Hello
[15:02:01] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (present)
[15:02:55] <wiesand> which is a pity because he'd probably be the one to convey feedback on 1.8.4pre1 from his usual round of suspects
[15:03:28] <wiesand> but note we have a success report on openafs-info as of half an hour ago :)
[15:03:31] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> True
[15:05:56] <wiesand> re 1.8.x, it seems clear that we ought to issue a (pre)release with linux 5.3 support (it's at rc6 now) soon
[15:07:01] <wiesand> i'm still unsure whether that should be 1.8.4pre2 (and then "really soon") or we should release 1.8.4 as is and 1.8.4.1 soon after
[15:07:16] <wiesand> opinions?
[15:07:47] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> It's just the two changes from Cheyenne, right?
[15:08:12] <wiesand> also, is there anything else among the changes already pulled up to 1.8.x that's particularly urgent and cannot wait for 1.8.5?
[15:08:51] <wiesand> right, I think it's just those two under the linux-5.3 topic
[15:09:22] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> "use send_sig" is the more risky of the two, but I for one would be
fine putting it in pre2.
[15:10:11] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> The automake bits I pulled up were because I wanted them in my debian
package for 1.8.4pre1
[15:10:20] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> 13789 and 13790
[15:10:58] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I also put 13791 into debian, but that's mostly because it was
prompted by a debian bug; I don't mind if that waits for 1.8.5
[15:12:48] <wiesand> thanks. should 13789 and 13790 go into pre2?
[15:13:26] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> yes please
[15:14:34] <wiesand> and it seems we agree on  issuing a pre2 within days from now, with linux 5.3 support and those rather urgent fixes dicussed here, right?
[15:15:17] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> That seems reasonable, though of course if we got other feedback on
pre1 that could shape our plans
[15:15:40] <wiesand> sure
[15:16:26] <wiesand> it would be nice if 13788 ("use send_sig") had at least one +1 on it… review review review…
[15:17:45] <wiesand> NB did you actually hear from MIT regarding their getcwd() problems?
[15:18:50] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I haven't checked in lately, no -- been pretty busy with other things
[15:19:04] <wiesand> tell me about it ;-)
[15:20:47] <wiesand> so, barring more feedback on pre1,the plan is a pre2 "soon" with the stuff discussed above included
[15:21:01] <wiesand> and then I'll drill down into the sad state og 1.6.x
[15:21:29] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> "og" may well be the appropriate reaction to the state of 1.6.x :)
[15:21:48] <wiesand> s/og/of/, but, right…
[15:22:52] <wiesand> I think that's what I have on the stable series for today
[15:24:27] <wiesand> Anything else to discuss from your side?
[15:25:24] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Um, maybe one thing, let me remind myself what it was
[15:26:12] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (in terms of updates, I merged some more of the aklog stuff from Yadav
and stuff Andrew pulled out of the freebsd stack, and am looking at
some of the per-jail sysname list stack)
[15:27:06] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Ah, I was going to ask meffie a thing
[15:27:14] <wiesand> good - much of that is on my personal "we wants it" list
[15:27:34] <wiesand> you can still try - maybe he'll read the html transcript
[15:27:54] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> In 13824, Andrew makes opr_softsig_Init() in xstat_* conditional on
WINNT, but I don't think we need the call at all, so I wanted to check
if Mike remembered anything about why the call was added (as part of
the pthread conversion he did)
[15:28:43] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> But I think that was about it from me.
[15:29:05] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Other than the usual "please let me know if something is
higher-priority than the regular queue of stuff"
[15:29:33] <wiesand> Thanks.
[15:30:06] <wiesand> Since we seem to be kind of lonely anyway,  let's make ti a brief one today? Adjourn?
[15:30:30] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> +1
[15:30:49] <wiesand> Have a nice weekend then. Bye.
[15:30:56] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks; you too
