[13:03:42] wiesand joins the room
[13:03:44] <mvita> hello
[13:03:56] <wiesand> Hello
[13:04:32] <meffie> good morning.
[13:04:45] <meffie> good afternoon too.
[13:04:55] <wiesand> yeah
[13:05:50] <wiesand> Hmm, no Ben again - I hope we haven't lost him and he's just still lost in the "moving house mines".
[13:06:04] <meffie> yes.
[13:06:27] <wiesand> I'll contact him bey PM
[13:06:29] <meffie> maybe it is too early for him now?
[13:07:07] <wiesand> Possibly, as discussed last week. AFAIK 6am isn't quite his time ;-)
[13:07:51] <wiesand> I haven't been quite as inactiv last week as it probably seems.
[13:08:27] <wiesand> I'm preparing a test build of what I think should be 1.8.4pre1
[13:09:13] <wiesand> Which is all the open stuff on 1.8.x, 13592, and as a recent addition 13597..13599
[13:09:39] <wiesand> Mark: thanks for the latter three!
[13:09:41] <meffie> ok, i rebased the changes in the gerrit topic after cheyenne pulled up one gerrit of the autoconf changes.
[13:09:55] <mvita> the site that had the problem confirmed those to me via email
[13:10:17] <meffie> yay! i'm glad he was in a position to build and try it.
[13:10:30] <meffie> nice catch mark!
[13:10:55] <mvita> he's the one who "caught" it, so to speak
[13:11:02] <mvita> I just cleaned up the mess
[13:11:18] <mvita> Senior Code Janitor
[13:11:26] <wiesand> :)
[13:11:39] <meffie> +1
[13:12:19] <wiesand> Mike: which one made you rebase once more?
[13:12:29] <meffie> looking...
[13:13:08] <meffie> 13481 (i think)
[13:13:33] <meffie> it was added "in the middle" of the stack
[13:14:11] <wiesand> er, no, that one was pulled up in February
[13:14:58] <wiesand> I guess it's rather my "Make OpenAFS 1.8.4pre1" (13596)
[13:14:59] <meffie> oh, sorry it was one of the autoconf changes. i
[13:15:22] <meffie> i also moved "Make openafs 1.8.4pre1" to the top
[13:15:59] <wiesand> Which was indeed added "in the middle of the stack". Rebasing in this case did no harm but wasn't necessary either
[13:16:07] <meffie> also i finally see why gerrit can give odd results when looking at the "related changes" :)
[13:16:43] <wiesand> (since it was based on the top-most change changing any file in common)
[13:17:46] <meffie> its best to always start the the top comment, and navigate down. starting at the bottom is confusing to gerrit, since some commits are more that one decedent after rebases are done.
[13:18:05] <meffie> s/top comment/top commit/
[13:18:51] <wiesand> yes, that's the most transparent way to do it
[13:19:23] <wiesand> alas, it will only work under the assumption that everything already pulled up will go in soon
[13:20:39] <meffie> yes, that is why i called the topic "stage"
[13:20:57] <wiesand> anyway, once I smoke tested that test build mentioned above, I'll merge most of what we have queued up for 1.8.4
[13:21:18] <meffie> excellent! thank you
[13:21:43] <wiesand> but I'd really like to have those 4 changes yet to be merged on master in 1.8.4pre1
[13:21:53] <meffie> sorry i did not write the NEWS file yet :(
[13:22:07] <wiesand> sory I haven't either ;-)
[13:23:22] <wiesand> It's easier anyway once stuff was merged since you don't have to add "tbc" to each and every item
[13:24:28] <wiesand> And if it's the last thing missing to get a (pre)release out, there's "a bit more incentive" to find a slot for getting it done.
[13:25:39] <meffie> ok.
[13:26:38] <wiesand> I think that's what I had on my agenda today. 1.8.4pre1 blocking on my test build and those four changes to be merged on master (and NEWS). 1.6.24 still postponed to "after 1.8.4pre1".
[13:27:48] <wiesand> Anything else? New 1.8.4 wishlist items? Buildbot news?
[13:28:34] <mvita> nothing here
[13:29:32] <meffie> nothing else. we have a tentative list of talks for the workshop next month to be put on openafs-workshop.org. seems like the schedule is near full now.
[13:29:43] <wiesand> good!
[13:29:45] <meffie> the cfp closes in a week.
[13:29:52] <mvita> Mike I will be submitting mine today
[13:30:10] <meffie> we still do not have a "release team report", i was hoping ben would be interested :)
[13:30:25] <wiesand> I'm looking forward to the event, even if I only get to read the slides.
[13:30:45] <mvita> Stephan, would you have any interest in preparing a DESY site report?
[13:30:51] <meffie> +1
[13:30:54] <mvita> I know you can't attend, but....
[13:31:04] <mvita> someone else could deliver your report
[13:31:14] <meffie> even a short one would be interesting.
[13:33:05] <wiesand> I'll PM you on this…
[13:33:10] <meffie> ok
[13:34:09] <wiesand> Unless there's anything else, let's make this a brief one. Adjourn?
[13:34:20] <meffie> thanks have a good weekend.
[13:34:38] <mvita> Thanks everyone
[13:34:55] <wiesand> Thanks a lot!
