[13:59:25] <wiesand> All the things I sacrifice for openafs...
[13:59:46] <meffie> good afternoon
[13:59:50] <wiesand> Hello
[14:01:46] <wiesand> The president of Armenia visited our institute today. Also had his lunch here. Tons of food left and I'm sitting here…
[14:02:50] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> That's quite the sacrifice
[14:03:11] <wiesand> Well, to be honest, I had my share ;-)
[14:03:30] <wiesand> But the colleagues are still partying in the lobby
[14:03:43] <meffie> :)
[14:04:24] <wiesand> Back on topic: How's the new buildbot doing?
[14:06:05] <meffie> doing better. i figured out the issue with the gerrit verification.
[14:06:54] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Am I going to need to do something about the
https://buildbot.openafs.org thing?
[14:07:10] mvita joins the room
[14:07:30] <wiesand> The links in the gerrit comments no longer work
[14:07:37] <mvita> sorry to be late
[14:07:49] <meffie> it's was basically the same problem as before. we have it setup to verify only after all the builders have completed. of one of the workers is down, then the verification stalls untill the next changeid is submitted.
[14:08:32] <wiesand> ph looks like those links were fixed too - sorry
[14:08:33] <meffie> doing some digging, i see jasons questions on the buildbot mail list about this.
[14:09:17] <meffie> i'm going to look at the https:// thing next. not sure yet
[14:09:43] <mvita> thanks for all your efforts, Mike
[14:09:51] <wiesand> seconded!
[14:09:52] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> My guess is that this is an artifact of the original setup before we
had TLS support at all on this machine
[14:09:57] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thirded!
[14:10:08] <meffie> for now, i've just removed the workers that are offline. i'll see if there is a  way we can make a scheduler that can do that dynamically.
[14:10:12] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> And so we used ports for vhosting when we can now use SNI
[14:11:36] <meffie> i'm also on the buildbot irc, and that has been helpful.
[14:11:52] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I guess we still need ports for having separate processes running to
serve the different sites behind the apache-as-reverse-proxy, though,
but we would just need to change buildbot's idea of its "canonical
URL"
[14:13:23] <meffie> yes, i think so too.
[14:13:43] <meffie> not sure how to do that yet.
[14:14:04] <meffie> first attempts failed that is. :)
[14:16:41] <wiesand> I don't have much on 1.6/1.8, except the confession that I'm still way behind with my homework
[14:17:06] <mvita> too much partying
[14:17:13] <mvita> tsk tsk
[14:17:26] <wiesand> I have a few hours set aside later today
[14:17:28] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> You have company on the "behind with homework" front.
Not sure whether it's good company or not...
[14:17:31] <mvita> ;-)
[14:17:46] <wiesand> The party was during work hours...
[14:19:03] <wiesand> Any other news?
[14:19:43] <meffie> the linux-rc builder was working for master with marks fixes merged by ben
[14:20:23] <wiesand> pulling those up and merging those is my #1 priority
[14:20:29] <wiesand> Thanks Mark!
[14:20:30] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I'm going to be travelling again next week; I seem to have back-loaded
my travel this year
[14:20:35] <mvita> nod
[14:21:02] <wiesand> But we'll still need something else for 1.6 I believe?
[14:21:51] <mvita> I have some customer facing work today but I haven't forgotten about the 1.6x-specific backport for Linux 4.20
[14:22:21] <wiesand> NB we had a couple of getcwd() issues here lately (EL 7.5 kernels)
[14:22:33] <meffie> yuck.
[14:22:43] <mvita> drat these computers
[14:23:15] <wiesand> And our Windoze clients still BSOD, though less frequently
[14:23:26] <meffie> also, should we try to fix the broken 'vos status' for 1.8.3, since that is a regression?
[14:23:44] <mvita> yes, on my list - I have a patch for that somewhere
[14:24:22] <meffie> i dont know if there is an openafs rt ticket for the vos status issue
[14:24:57] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I don't remember seeing a 'vos status' report
[14:24:57] <wiesand> if there is one, I don't see it
[14:24:57] <mvita> I don't know either
[14:26:59] <mvita> meffie, ours is 45721
[14:27:24] <wiesand> was it brought up on one of the lists?
[14:27:34] <meffie> i hit the issue a lot recently. vos status no longer supports the number of packets transferred
[14:27:52] <mvita> I discovered it years ago on master while doing other stuff
[14:27:55] <meffie> which makes it hard to monitor volume release/move progress
[14:28:04] <mvita> I corresponded w sxw about it
[14:28:15] <mvita> and then it languished
[14:28:29] <mvita> (on my end, not Simon's)
[14:28:58] <mvita> Then earlier this year I got back to it after a field complaint
[14:29:11] <mvita> and immediately noticed the security issue(s)
[14:29:30] <mvita> I'm finally getting back to it again now
[14:29:51] <meffie> water under the bridge. lets get an rt report and we should try to get a patch before 1.8.3 i think.
[14:30:25] <meffie> we are running 1.8.x now and it's a bit of a pain. i'm surprised more sites have not complained.
[14:30:52] <mvita> will do
[14:31:22] <meffie> i can submit the rt report, since i've been hitting this. i've not looked an how to fix it yet.
[14:31:38] <mvita> it's quite easy
[14:31:52] <mvita> just put back the accessors that sxw omitted
[14:32:42] <meffie> that's good news.
[14:34:03] <meffie> rt report on the way...
[14:34:09] <mvita> tx
[14:34:38] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> thanks
[14:36:42] <wiesand> Anything else to discuss today?
[14:36:50] mvita leaves the room
[14:37:32] <wiesand> The lobby is still lit ;-)
[14:37:47] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I am happy that Andrew has been putting in good reviews.
But Stephan should go back to his party
[14:37:52] mvita joins the room
[14:38:22] <wiesand> Yes, it's good to have Andrew participate.
[14:40:00] <meffie> Ticket 134856 created in queue 'openafs-bugs'
[14:40:16] <mvita> acl
[14:40:16] <wiesand> Ok, if there's nothing else, I'll rejoin the party :-) Pity I can't have wine since I'm determinted to work on those prereleases ;-)
[14:40:20] <mvita> ack
[14:40:33] <meffie> maybe the wine would help ! :)
[14:40:51] <wiesand> Probably not.
[14:41:07] <meffie> sorry for all the churn on the bosserver-no-client-dirs stack. i hope that is getting close.
[14:41:24] <meffie> then we can refocus on rxgk :)
[14:42:01] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> :)
[14:42:02] <wiesand> and bind mounts
[14:42:20] <wiesand> and per-container sysnames
[14:42:21] <mvita> and ipv6, o my!
[14:42:46] <wiesand> yeah, that too
[14:42:46] <meffie> yes, and ipv6, patches. for xmas.
[14:43:40] <wiesand> We should get those releases out before xmas. I'll try…
[14:43:42] <meffie> it would be nice to have rxgx phase1 merged and some if the ipv6 prep done before hepix 2019 ;)
[14:44:06] <wiesand> which one? spring or fall?
[14:44:23] <meffie> spring, looks like i'll be attending.
[14:45:31] <wiesand> La Jolla - nice. Been there.
[14:46:02] <meffie> hope you guys can come too. perhaps the foundation provide travel
[14:46:42] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I'll be in Prague for the IETF that week
[14:46:50] <meffie> rats.
[14:47:03] <wiesand> I no longer do these travels.
[14:47:14] <meffie> bummer.
[14:47:41] <wiesand> 13h in a seat half my size is a torture
[14:48:16] <meffie> would a hepix in europe be better?
[14:48:28] <wiesand> in the past, we could add a holiday - last time I toured california, vegas, utah
[14:48:57] <wiesand> today, this means I'd have to pay 100% of the flight myself
[14:49:43] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Yikes
[14:51:02] <meffie> when and where is the fall hepix? i dont see it listed.
[14:51:37] <meffie> Amsterdam (Oct 14-18)
[14:51:45] <meffie> found it :)
[14:51:53] <meffie> any IETF meeting conflicts?
[14:52:28] <wiesand> I'm much more likely to attend that one. I can go there by car :)
[14:52:45] <meffie> :)
[14:53:14] <wiesand> And it's a great place.
[14:53:23] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> No IETF conflicts in October (yet)
[14:53:48] <meffie> great. (so far)
[14:54:12] <meffie> i'll start to lobby for travel funding :)
[14:55:32] <meffie> ok, sorry for dragging out the conversation. thanks.
[14:55:59] <wiesand> right, speaking of lobby, let's adjourn ;-)
[14:56:17] <wiesand> Thanks a lot everyone!
[14:56:26] <mvita> thank you!
[14:56:28] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks everyone!
