[13:01:02] wiesand joins the room
[13:01:33] <wiesand> [breathes heavily] almost made it…
[13:02:08] mvita joins the room
[13:02:37] <meffie> good day
[13:02:39] <wiesand> Hello
[13:02:49] <mvita> present
[13:03:37] <wiesand> we upgraded our db servers yesterday
[13:04:20] <meffie> how was the upgrade?
[13:04:24] <wiesand> unfortunately the aftermath cost me this morning which I had hoped to be able to devote to openafs
[13:04:34] <wiesand> smooth for the AFS side of things
[13:05:05] <meffie> did you have new service keys? or convert using akeyconvert?
[13:05:22] <wiesand> it just turned out these servers were doing some more things for which we no longer have anyone familiar with them
[13:05:37] <wiesand> no and no
[13:06:02] <wiesand> we'll have new service keys once the new servers have been stable for a week
[13:06:22] <meffie> so, just using the old KeyFile?
[13:06:34] <wiesand> don't tell anyone
[13:06:47] <meffie> ha, ok. i wont
[13:07:45] <wiesand> 8pm in Bangkok - I'd probably be doing something else too
[13:08:03] <wiesand> so I guess this will be a brief one
[13:08:30] <wiesand> did anyone have a chance to look at the Linux gplonly problem?
[13:08:46] <meffie> mark is planning on looking at that next.
[13:09:04] <wiesand> great
[13:09:26] <meffie> (he's been tied up on a crash report... but the linux thing is next)
[13:09:52] <mvita> there is a second linux problem - some of the time apis we use have changed as well
[13:10:03] <wiesand> ouch
[13:10:28] <meffie> hopefull we will be able to cope with the api changes?
[13:10:31] <wiesand> but hadn't that happened a relase before already?
[13:10:34] <mvita> it shouldn't be too bad
[13:10:48] <mvita> yes, we had some time changes in 4.18
[13:10:49] <meffie> ok, thanks
[13:10:59] <mvita> now there are more in 4.20
[13:11:05] <mvita> y2038
[13:11:53] <wiesand> I'm planning to make a late fortune out of y2038
[13:11:59] <mvita> bringing things in piecemeal is just dandy for in-tree modules
[13:12:06] <mvita> no so much for us
[13:12:10] <mvita> not
[13:12:13] <wiesand> right
[13:13:34] <wiesand> nothing new in RT either
[13:13:57] <wiesand> but some more messages on "retrun of getcwd()?" on -info
[13:14:37] <mvita> correct cwd is so overrated
[13:14:49] <mvita> ;-)
[13:14:52] <wiesand> heh
[13:16:27] <wiesand> these "bind mounts into AFS" look like a new spin
[13:16:46] <mvita> yes, that would fix getcwd forever
[13:16:48] <meffie> fyi, andrew says he will be doing more updates to the linux-native-mounts topics
[13:17:05] <wiesand> good
[13:17:31] <wiesand> of course I haven't gotten around to testing those :-(
[13:17:37] <mvita> for 1.8:  what more is needed for branch:openafs-stable-1_8_x topic:gctrans18
[13:17:38] <meffie> we are still waiting for feedback from sites that have the current version.
[13:17:40] <mvita> ?
[13:17:55] <mvita> 13336, 13337
[13:19:15] <wiesand> time to put together 1.8.3pre1 …
[13:20:56] <meffie> we want to wait to merge to the branch ?
[13:21:29] <wiesand> everything just blocks on me being overloaded, really sorry
[13:21:47] <meffie> no worries
[13:22:06] <mvita> agreed, don't stress
[13:22:32] <wiesand> I officially changed my address to the new home this week. Now I'm in the process of notifying dozens of entities about it...
[13:22:33] <meffie> i think mark was just wondering if you were waiting on him for something on that topic.
[13:22:40] <mvita> yes
[13:22:59] <wiesand> no, looks fine and was discussed before - it's all my fault
[13:23:02] <mvita> like, does it need more reviewers - or a rebase
[13:23:34] <wiesand> review is sufficient - rebase, I don't even know
[13:24:03] <meffie> i would be surprised if this one needs a rebase.
[13:24:05] <wiesand> but if one is required, I'll either handle it or beg for help
[13:24:50] <wiesand> I still have to create that infamous list of clashes and dependencies for the 1.8.3 candidates ;-)
[13:25:16] <meffie> can that be automated? can we just use merge commits :)
[13:25:45] <mvita> <sticks fingers in his ears>
[13:26:00] <wiesand> [thunder]
[13:26:16] <wiesand> ;-)
[13:26:20] <meffie> heh
[13:27:09] <wiesand> so, things will happen eventually...
[13:27:55] <meffie> maybe if we just had a list of candidate gerrit numbers in the wiki, i could write something to check it for conflicts and ordering?
[13:28:27] <meffie> (sort of building on the current gerrits in the wiki?)
[13:28:51] <wiesand> gathering that list will be the first step
[13:29:10] <meffie> yes, that part cannot be automated.
[13:29:42] <meffie> (see, there still is some use for humans, at least for now)
[13:30:45] <wiesand> (i doubt ai will solve the y2038 issues)
[13:31:28] <wiesand> is there more to discuss today?
[13:32:12] <mvita> Nothing here
[13:32:43] <meffie> would this be a good time to try to switch over to the new buildbot master? i will leave the old one on stand by to fall back to in case?
[13:33:16] <wiesand> yes, why not
[13:33:42] <meffie> originally, i wanted to migrate gradually, but i could not find an easy way to do that.
[13:34:05] <mvita> cut it over
[13:34:07] <meffie> ok, thanks.
[13:34:08] <wiesand> there are some outstanding pull-ups (and possibly rebases) - let's see how the new one does
[13:34:19] <wiesand> "Augen zu und durch"
[13:34:21] <meffie> ok, great.
[13:34:52] <meffie> i did not want to switch "right before a release" but we seem to have time at the moment.
[13:35:14] <wiesand> I'm afraid that's not quite wrong ;-)
[13:35:41] <meffie> ok, thank you.
[13:35:50] <wiesand> If that was all, I could fetch my car from the garage while the master mechanic is still available :)
[13:36:29] <meffie> for ben kaduk, if he reads the scrollback. i got to all but one of the gerrits you asked about last week. looking at the last one today.
[13:36:51] <wiesand> he'll be delighted
[13:36:53] <meffie> that is all, thanks.
[13:37:06] <wiesand> Let's adjourn then. Thanks a lot!
[13:37:18] <meffie> have a good weekend. hope you are feeling better.
[13:37:51] <mvita> so long
[13:38:03] <wiesand> i am better, thanks

(It was 8pm in Bangkok, yes, but I wasn't in Bangkok yet, and after 20
hours of travel it was basically nap time.)
[18:19:48] <meffie> hello Ben!
[18:20:00] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Hi!
[18:20:24] <meffie> hope your travels are safe.
[18:20:25] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Sorry to just be popping in, but it's 2500h and I should be asleep.
Will read more tomorrow, of course.
[18:20:32] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks!
