[11:55:07] Marcio Barbosa joins the room
[12:57:56] mvita joins the room
[13:00:06] wiesand joins the room
[13:00:58] <mvita> I can't make it today, I've got a contractor coming to the house this morning.
[13:01:14] <wiesand> ok, thanks for the notice
[13:01:37] <wiesand> who else is actually here?
[13:03:01] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> *waves*
[13:03:14] <wiesand> good morning Ben
[13:03:42] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> and good evening to you
[13:03:45] meffie joins the room
[13:04:24] <meffie> good day
[13:04:44] <wiesand> in your mail, you wrote "we will need to … pretty soon" - how soon?
[13:04:49] <wiesand> hello Mike
[13:05:13] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> weeks, not days
[13:05:33] <wiesand> good
[13:06:32] <wiesand> frankly, I didn't get as much done as I had hoped this week, so am not quite ready for the (pre)releases
[13:07:06] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Such is life.
[13:07:30] <wiesand> but we should still get them out before the next meeting, and that should mostly fit into the schedulae we just talked about
[13:08:04] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Yes.
[13:08:54] <wiesand> NB is this about the open issues in RT, or something I haven't heard of yet?
[13:09:49] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Just what's in RT.
[13:09:59] <wiesand> good, thanks
[13:11:15] mvita leaves the room
[13:11:56] <wiesand> I think I don't have many topics on the agenda today… Linux 4.19rc at least seems to build
[13:12:32] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Better than the alternative :)
[13:13:28] <wiesand> Right.
[13:14:52] <wiesand> I'm not aware of any super exciting open changes which are close to ready either. Did I miss anything?
[13:15:18] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I was going to ask something similar ;)
[13:15:51] <meffie> there's the volserver crash fix in GCTrans
[13:16:00] <meffie> form mark last week
[13:16:01] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> The updated ticket5 from heimdal to fix format-truncation warnings is
in the abstract worth taking, but I haven't actually looked at it.
[13:16:28] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Good point, should probably take that.
[13:16:30] <meffie> gerrit 13286
[13:17:27] <meffie> re the format-truncation warnings, yes we need those because i upgraded to ubuntu 18.04 and i cant build without warnings now :)
[13:18:01] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> :)
[13:18:13] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Did anyone look at 13165?
[13:20:19] <wiesand> uh, the commit mentioned in the 13286 commit message is from 2010?!
[13:20:56] <meffie> yes, this bug was introduced in 1.6.0.
[13:21:05] <wiesand> 13165 is beyond my rx-fu :-9
[13:21:40] <meffie> it can be triggered by issuing many back to back volume transactions in parallel
[13:22:38] <meffie> for example when migrating volumes
[13:22:49] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Right, that's what I was thinking about
[13:23:15] <meffie> that's how it was triggered in the field
[13:23:51] <wiesand> how does it fit into the schedule?
[13:24:11] <wiesand> it's not for 1.8.1.1 and 1.6.22.4 I think
[13:24:29] <meffie> i think it can go after those releases
[13:24:56] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I think that's okay.
[13:25:17] <meffie> it's a very old bug, but it is a one line fix that prevents a crash, so i'd hope it would be included soonish.
[13:26:02] <meffie> it could be happening more than we think since the bosserver will restart the volserver on the crash.
[13:26:04] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> And the refCount we grab on tt means that tt itself will still be on
the allTrans list when we reacquire the lock?
[13:26:18] <wiesand> does it qualify for the "in weeks, not days" releases we just discussed?
[13:26:21] <meffie> yes, that is what mark told me.
[13:26:31] <meffie> i think weeks for this is ok.
[13:26:41] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I think fixing a crash like that is okay for the aforementioned
releases
[13:26:57] <wiesand> ok, sounds like a plan
[13:27:00] <meffie> it's just a recent gerrit i wanted to bring up.
[13:27:18] <wiesand> just what I asked about ;-)
[13:27:22] <meffie> and mark will be happy to have his fix included :)
[13:29:05] <wiesand> NB at least *one* pair of eyes on openafs-stable-1_6_22-branch (1.6.22.4) <https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/q/status:open+project:openafs+branch:openafs-stable-1_6_22-branch+topic:1.6.22.4> and openafs-stable-1_6_22-branch (1.6.22.4) <https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/q/status:open+project:openafs+branch:openafs-stable-1_6_22-branch+topic:1.6.22.4> would be nice
[13:29:48] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Was one of those supposed to be a 1.8.x link?
[13:29:57] <wiesand> I can go ahead w/o any review by others, but Andrew wouldn't like it ;-)
[13:30:14] <wiesand> er, yes, openafs-stable-1_8_x (1.8.1.1) <https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/q/status:open+project:openafs+branch:openafs-stable-1_8_x+topic:1.8.1.1>
[13:30:46] <meffie> ah, ok, sorry, will work on that today.
[13:31:22] <meffie> i think marcio may have some time today too.
[13:31:34] <wiesand> thanks - shouldn't take too long I believe
[13:32:21] <meffie> i've been trying to get back to pat's patches too
[13:32:26] Marcio Barbosa leaves the room
[13:33:01] <wiesand> as said last week, the configure stuff for 1.6 is easy to verify, so skip that if it would take too much time to review
[13:33:21] <wiesand> and you just scared Marcio away ;-)
[13:33:47] Marcio Barbosa joins the room
[13:33:49] <meffie> i have the effect.
[13:33:55] <meffie> s/the/that/
[13:34:33] <Marcio Barbosa> heh
[13:34:38] <Marcio Barbosa> lost my connection for a few seconds
[13:34:39] <Marcio Barbosa> sorry
[13:34:57] <wiesand> ok, anything else to discuss today?
[13:35:04] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> We'll still blame it on Mike :)
[13:35:14] <meffie> heh ;)
[13:35:34] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Do we known how much time Mark has if I wanted to ask him to review a
thing?
[13:36:11] <meffie> he is pretty busy at the moment.
[13:36:31] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Also, if one of the SNA folks gets a chance, remind/tell him that I
left a comment on RT #134574 with a question for him.
[13:36:38] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Okay, I think I have other resources to pull in.
[13:36:46] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks for letting me know.
[13:36:51] <meffie> ok, thanks. i'll let him know.
[13:36:56] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks!
[13:37:41] <meffie> also, i dont have any buildbot updates today.
[13:38:31] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Okay.
[13:38:33] <meffie> i see i need to make more changes for the new gerrit builders to make sure they dont skip gerrits
[13:38:41] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (I'll take that as "fix the format-truncation warnings already!")
[13:38:55] <meffie> heh, no, that that would be nice :)
[13:40:19] <meffie> btw, kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl: did you see andrew's linux-native-mount patches? those are interesting.
[13:40:41] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I only saw that they existed; I did not look any further, as this week
is/was a telechat week.
[13:41:01] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> The ACME spec was more interesting than I expected, in terms of
reviewing it.
[13:42:10] <wiesand> ACME spec?
[13:42:31] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Automated Certificate Management <mumble>.  What LetsEncrypt uses.
[13:42:39] <wiesand> ah
[13:44:00] <wiesand> ok, next try: anything else to discuss today?
[13:44:14] <meffie> nothing else, thank you.
[13:44:27] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Nothing here.
[13:44:45] <wiesand> so let's warp up and grant Ben another hour of sleep ;-)
[13:44:58] <meffie> thanks everyone
[13:45:18] <wiesand> I'll go ahead with the prereleases as planned (and as I find time/occasion)
[13:45:36] <wiesand> Thanks a lot everybody!
[13:45:47] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks!
