[11:54:45] Marcio Barbosa joins the room
[12:57:14] meffie joins the room
[12:57:23] <meffie> good morning.
[12:59:25] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> greetings.
[13:01:27] mvita joins the room
[13:01:34] <mvita> hello
[13:02:54] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Should we wait a little bit for Stephan?
[13:03:28] <mvita> I don't know - maybe he is on vacation, I don't recall
[13:04:11] <mvita> > wiesand> I'll have a few weeks off starting next Friday. I'll move home during that period, but there should be time left to get a grip on 1.8.x.
[13:04:27] <mvita> that was last week
[13:04:46] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Your memory is better than mine :)
[13:05:01] <mvita> My log is, at any rate...
[13:05:29] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Okay, I guess we'll get started then.
[13:05:33] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Any 1.6 topics?
[13:05:48] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> There was this new RT about cache bypass issues that was maybe only on
1.6
[13:06:04] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> https://rt.central.org/rt/Ticket/Display.html?id=134641
[13:06:06] <mvita> oh, I haven't heard about that
[13:06:48] <mvita> but not surprising
[13:07:53] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I don't really expect to be able to dig into it much, myself, but at
least now you know about it.
[13:08:05] <mvita> I may have time to look at it later today
[13:08:14] <meffie> my memory is foggy, but i thought there was a fix for that cache bypass bug?
[13:08:20] <meffie> by andrew?
[13:08:26] <mvita> hmm
[13:08:31] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I guess 1.6.18 is kind of old, sure
[13:09:06] <meffie> oh, "two more bugs"
[13:09:29] <mvita> 1.8.1 had:  Fix panic when cache bypass is enabled.
[13:09:39] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Yeah, that was the obvious one.
[13:09:56] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> But it sounds like maybe he has not tried reenabling bypass on the
1.8.x machines yet
[13:13:39] <mvita> I'll see what I can find
[13:13:47] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks
[13:13:50] <mvita> I have other reasons to take a look at cache bypass
[13:14:00] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> My condolences
[13:14:06] <mvita> so two birds, one stone
[13:14:33] <meffie> that's always good.
[13:15:45] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Other 1.6 topics?
[13:16:40] <mvita> I suppose we should review the NEWS
[13:16:52] <mvita> and the other one
[13:17:10] <mvita> 12895
[13:17:12] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Ah, yes, that would be good.
[13:17:20] <mvita> 13279
[13:19:46] <mvita> that's all I see for 1.6.x
[13:21:08] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Sounds good.
[13:21:22] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> 1.8 is also pretty quiet; I see Joe got to test tieh 1.8.1+time64
[13:21:34] <mvita> yay
[13:23:24] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (not sure what "tieh" was supposed to be, sorry)
[13:23:44] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> There was some activity on master, finally
[13:26:13] <mvita> oh wow, all the solaris warning stack is merged now!
[13:26:24] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Hopefully I can get some of this static-anlaysis stuff merged, and
more of rxgk
[13:27:09] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Note that I'm on vacation next week and will actually be travelling
during next week's meeting
[13:27:28] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> But I may have some downtime for AFS stuff
[13:27:56] <mvita> congrats on TLS 1.3, btw
[13:28:15] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks! :) It was a big collaboration
[13:29:22] <meffie> pat pinged me about the static-analysis patches. i asked him to set the topic, to make it easier to report and review.
[13:30:03] <meffie> reviewing those are always the "next todo" on my list :)
[13:30:25] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> heh :)
[13:30:42] <mvita> I promised him I would try to get to them … .weeks ago :-$
[13:31:01] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I'll mention as well 6895 and 12942 that we probably should o
something with.
[13:32:15] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> *do
[13:32:30] <mvita> oof, I haven't seen 12942 before
[13:32:48] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Yeah, it's un-fun
[13:32:55] <mvita> I did look at 6895 recently but got pulled away
[13:33:07] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I really should have gotten it into 1.8.1, too :(
[13:35:14] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Other than the security queue, is there other stuff I should be trying
to pay attention to?
[13:35:32] <mvita> Nothing I can think of right now.
[13:36:26] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Okay.
[13:36:40] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Any interesting news on the buildbot front?
[13:36:41] <mvita> linux-daily is still building
[13:36:53] <mvita> that's a good sign
[13:37:21] <mvita> (4.19 merge window stuff hasn't busted us yet)
[13:37:35] <meffie> i have more to do on the config for the new buildbot master. i seemed to have broken the gerrit-verification there :(
[13:38:42] <meffie> also, i'll ask derek to add his new worker to the new master.
[13:39:00] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Huh, interesting.  Thanks for the update, and for continuing to look
at it!
[13:39:31] <meffie> it was working, and i fixed a "warning", so i think that may be the change that broke it.
[13:39:36] <meffie> not sure yet.
[13:39:56] <meffie> (warning in the twistd.log)
[13:40:12] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Ah.
[13:43:32] <meffie> i have a list of todos. i should put them on wiki.openafs.org
[13:44:05] <meffie> including cleaning/archiving info about the old master.
[13:44:28] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Ah, sure.
[13:44:55] <meffie> speaking of wiki, what should we do with the one page stephan put in gerrit?
[13:45:51] <meffie> 13259
[13:46:13] <meffie> should i just fix the patchset 1 in gerrit?
[13:46:48] <meffie> and if that gets merged, it would just show up on the wiki?
[13:47:08] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> If we're happy with the commit, just push it to refs/heads/master
directly, I think
[13:47:38] <meffie> you mentioned a few nits/typos.
[13:48:06] <meffie> i can push it but then we have an open gerrit?
[13:48:10] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I don't remember what nasty tricks I had to play to get web-driven
ikiwiki updates noticed by gerrit in a reasonable way.
[13:48:19] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> The change-ID magic should still work, I think.
[13:48:27] <meffie> ah, that's what i'm afraid of.
[13:48:35] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Er?
[13:48:55] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> When it gets merged by pushing directly to refs/heads/master it should
close the change, I think.
[13:49:01] <meffie> i mean i've never seen the wiki updated via gerrit. i dont know if it will work :)
[13:49:54] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I've definitely updated it via command-line git, and I *think* it went
through gerrit and not git.openafs.org, but my memory is a bit hazy.
[13:50:11] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/q/project:openafs-wiki finds a handful of
things
[13:50:58] <meffie> $ git gerrit-query status:merged
11175 Testing server configuration
10961 Add a very small 'testing' page
8554 Evenly space slash separator
[13:51:15] <meffie> $ git gerrit-query status:open
13259 suggested changes to backporting policy
[13:51:58] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> These handful of changes suggest that I attempted to make a change,
pushed to refs/for/master by instinct, noticed that it didn't need
review since it's a wiki, and pushed again to refs/heads/master
directly.
[13:55:50] <meffie> ok, i pushed patchset 2 to fix the typos.
[13:56:02] <mvita> sorry, Mike, I just found another.
[13:56:12] <mvita> I'll review ps2
[13:56:13] <meffie> no problem.
[13:56:36] <meffie> i feel we should just merge as is, and just fix the pages on the wiki.
[13:56:52] <meffie> there's tons of stuff to fix there. :)
[13:57:02] <mvita> oh.
[13:57:19] <mvita> then why do we bother with gerrit ?
[13:58:20] <mvita> I'll be glad to fix it on the wiki - I thought we were using gerrit because wiki public updates were disabled for some reason
[13:58:27] <mvita> s/thought/assumed/
[13:58:28] <meffie> we normally dont. stephan push it to gerrit because he was not aware of https://wiki.openafs.org/devel/GitWiki/
[13:59:01] <meffie> to make changes to the wiki without dealing with the horrible web ui.
[13:59:13] <meffie> s/push/pushed/
[13:59:32] <mvita> ok
[14:00:38] <mvita> ftfm:   The changes will not be held by gerrit for review. The commit will be merged immediately to the openafs-wiki.git repository and the html on the wiki server will be automatically updated after a successful 'git push'.
[14:01:57] <mvita> (the last sentences on GitWiki page
[14:02:30] <mvita> clearly that's not currently true
[14:02:30] <meffie> yes, read the stuff just before that..
[14:02:46] <meffie> the branch.
[14:02:56] <mvita> ah, tada
[14:02:59] <mvita> I get it
[14:03:17] <mvita> refs/heads/master
[14:03:26] <meffie> yes
[14:03:30] <mvita> not refs/for/master
[14:03:34] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> exactly
[14:03:37] <meffie> yes
[14:03:51] <mvita> still bewildering on the first 3 reads
[14:04:30] <meffie> only because we are creatures of habit :) refs/for/master
[14:05:04] <meffie> anyway, ben can i push to refs/heads/master now? or do you need to use the "merge" button on gerrit?
[14:06:17] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> For the wiki just push to refs/heads/master
[14:06:37] <meffie> ok, done
[14:06:54] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/admin/projects/openafs-wiki,access notes
that all registered users can push to refs/heads/master
[14:07:15] <meffie> oh, like magic. gerrit is happy. thanks.
[14:07:35] <meffie> the gerrit says merged now. great.
[14:08:09] <mvita> updating it on wiki now
[14:08:14] <meffie> thanks!
[14:08:26] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> np
[14:08:41] <meffie> oh, time flies.
[14:08:48] <meffie> mvita: did i miss our standup?
[14:09:19] <mvita> no, we are all waiting for you
[14:10:07] <meffie> why??
[14:10:28] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> That way it's all your fault when it runs late?
[14:27:03] <meffie> heh have a good weekend.
[14:33:45] meffie leaves the room
[14:35:21] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> You too
[14:46:02] mvita leaves the room
[15:06:28] mvita joins the room
[16:49:54] mvita leaves the room
[17:43:12] mvita joins the room
[21:55:00] Marcio Barbosa leaves the room
