[11:54:52] Marcio Barbosa joins the room
[12:56:52] wiesand joins the room
[12:59:07] mvita joins the room
[12:59:33] <mvita> hello
[12:59:40] <wiesand> Good morning
[13:00:02] <wiesand> It's been a quiet week…
[13:00:32] <wiesand> Ben seems to be busy and my week has been crazy, even w/o the new home
[13:00:33] <mvita> I'm glad it has been for one of us.
[13:01:12] <wiesand> regarding openafs, that is
[13:01:13] <mvita> Mike has been out of the office this week so I've been juggling some of his stuff
[13:01:47] <mvita> how is the new home?
[13:01:48] <wiesand> It's vacation time here. Two colleagues are on leave for which I'm the backup.
[13:02:36] <wiesand> Spent two days on making a 200TiB filesystem work again which I hadn't been in touch with for years.
[13:02:46] <mvita> wow
[13:02:59] <wiesand> The new home is great.
[13:03:00] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> wow, yes
[13:03:10] <wiesand> After the meeting I have to mow the lawn though…
[13:03:27] <mvita> nice
[13:03:32] <mvita> I love mowing the lawn
[13:04:16] <wiesand> Let's see… that's another thing I haven't been in touch with lately (for 17 years)
[13:04:52] <wiesand> I just managed to pull up the rpm build fix for 1.8 (13247)
[13:05:21] <wiesand> That one's on my wish list for 1.8.1
[13:05:22] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> yay
[13:05:32] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I think it was planned for 1.8.1, yes
[13:05:52] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> And 13246 (vldb_check)
[13:06:30] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Less clear but still likely (?) is 13243 (NULL Page during
write_begin), and even less clear is 13191 (getdslot-eintr)
[13:06:41] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> What do folks think about those?
[13:06:45] <wiesand> The other two (rpm-build-speedup) can wait, but they'll make life easier when debugging userland rpm builds
[13:06:52] <mvita> I'm sorry I still haven't gotten to either one.
[13:07:37] <mvita> oh, but the null page one I did review, I forgot
[13:07:51] <mvita> I'm very confident on that one 13243
[13:08:06] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I mean, it's clear they will all get to 1.8.x eventually, it's more a
question of 1.8.1 vs 1.8.2
[13:08:18] <mvita> ah
[13:09:09] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> given that pre1^W2 is out already
[13:09:12] <mvita> well, 13243 seems low risk
[13:09:24] <mvita> but also low urgency (rare)
[13:09:30] <wiesand> what's the risK? can it possibly get worse than dereferencing a null pointer?
[13:11:24] <mvita> I would like to see 13243 in 1.8.1 if it's not too much trouble
[13:11:30] <wiesand> the windows builders seem to have problems
[13:11:58] <mvita> I have not formed an opinion yet on 13191
[13:12:59] <mvita> <looking at windows builders>
[13:13:38] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> It looks like the "usual" windows filesystem layer weirdness that a
manual clean would fix
[13:14:23] <mvita> hmm
[13:14:36] <mvita> it''s beyond me
[13:15:06] <wiesand> Any news regarding Linux-next?
[13:15:38] <mvita> a fix for the GPL symbol is working its way toward linux-next this week
[13:15:51] <mvita> targeted for 4.18
[13:15:56] <mvita> but not there yet
[13:16:19] <wiesand> once that has happened, would we have everything we need to cope with 4.18?
[13:16:26] <mvita> I have not had a chance to take a close look at Joe's timespec fix
[13:16:44] <mvita> what it does is correct, but I'm not sure if it's complete yet
[13:17:09] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I don't know that I will be much help on the "is it complete?" front,
but agree that what it does is correct
[13:17:18] <mvita> those are the only two issues we know of
[13:18:05] <wiesand> thanks
[13:18:05] Marcio Barbosa leaves the room
[13:19:40] <wiesand> I have no (other) 1.6 topics today
[13:20:17] Marcio Barbosa joins the room
[13:20:19] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Is Mike still out today/next week?
[13:20:33] <mvita> he's out today, I think he returns on Monday
[13:20:55] <mvita> <checking linux-next updates>
[13:22:11] <mvita> fyi, we had a report on a Solaris crash w/ 1.8.1 but I don't believe it is a regression at this point
[13:22:33] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> (he still has a -1 on 13153 that should be removable now that 13218 is
staged on top of it)
[13:22:34] <mvita> it looks like a known but obscure problem
[13:22:58] <mvita> Oh, ok, I can ping him on that
[13:23:03] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> 13191, on the other hand, has a -1 from Stephan that could probably
be removed
[13:23:18] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Mmm, obscure Solaris problems, just what the doctor ordered.
[13:23:54] <mvita> Solaris has a resource tracker (think OOM-killer but more sophisticated)
[13:24:12] <mvita> it sometimes decides to unload libafs in mid-initialization
[13:24:22] <mvita> hilarity ensues
[13:24:46] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I can imagine!
[13:25:15] <wiesand> -1 on 13191 removed
[13:25:21] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks!
[13:27:17] <mvita> I promise to look at 13191 as soon as we finish here
[13:27:24] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Okay.
[13:27:30] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> I think we may be done here, actually.
[13:27:52] <mvita> also, I will put together minutes for the list
[13:27:55] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Since I didn't really get anything done this week, and everyone else
was also busy, it sounds like.
[13:28:14] <wiesand> right, unfortunately
[13:28:18] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Oh, and Alejandro reports back that the windows builder's folders have
been cleared
[13:28:27] <mvita> YAY!
[13:28:38] <mvita> thank you Alejandro
[13:28:47] <mvita> (and Ben for the nudge)
[13:29:33] <wiesand> yes, thanks
[13:29:43] <mvita> no news yet on the Foundation's grant application for IPv6 support
[13:30:12] <wiesand> I must have missed that
[13:30:35] <mvita> I think it's on the Foundation web site…. can't remember
[13:30:50] <mvita> I saw some web changes go by.
[13:31:31] <wiesand> yes, front page
[13:32:05] <wiesand> that would be nice if it worked out
[13:32:12] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Indeed
[13:32:45] <mvita> in other news, crx.nd.edu and itp.tugraz.at cells are both running 1.8.x in production
[13:32:57] <mvita> sorry, crc.nd.edu
[13:32:58] <wiesand> That and rxgk and we'd have a 2.0 release with a future
[13:33:18] <wiesand> brave
[13:34:06] <wiesand> Anything else to discuss today?
[13:34:06] Marcio Barbosa leaves the room
[13:34:45] <mvita> nothing else here
[13:35:06] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> nor here
[13:35:20] <wiesand> Let's adjourn then. Thanks everybody!
[13:35:22] <mvita> except that, sadly, some public cells are still running 1.2.x
[13:35:49] <wiesand> brave too…
[13:35:59] <mvita> well
[13:36:15] <kaduk@jabber.openafs.org/barnowl> Thanks everyone!
[13:36:20] <mvita> bye
[13:36:23] Marcio Barbosa joins the room
[13:36:24] <mvita> have a good weekend
[13:36:34] <mvita> and Stephan, enjoy the mowing!
[13:36:37] <wiesand> you too, goodbbye
[13:36:42] <wiesand> will do!
[13:36:47] wiesand leaves the room
[13:48:19] Marcio Barbosa leaves the room
[13:48:19] Marcio Barbosa joins the room
[15:49:07] Marcio Barbosa leaves the room
[16:54:13] mvita leaves the room
[17:12:34] mvita joins the room
