[15:01:04] <wiesand> Good morning
[15:01:48] <wiesand> …ing…ing….ing…ing….
[15:02:06] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl223D4A41> Apparently I should have brought my laptop; there is wifi here.
[15:02:34] <wiesand> Hi Ben - you're not supposed to be here though ;-)
[15:02:44] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl223D4A41> :)
[15:03:08] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl223D4A41> Everyone heard about orpheus-lyre.info already?
[15:03:57] <wiesand> Heard about it, but haven't fully grokked it yet
[15:04:47] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl223D4A41> I guess they have to be stingy with examples as not everyone has
released patches yet
[15:05:53] <wiesand> The good news is that our kerberos expert did, and is on it… Still, if you have a one-line summary tailored to my abilities, I'd appreciate that a lot...
[15:06:47] <meffie> good morning (sorry was making a debian 9 guest...)
[15:07:03] <wiesand> Hi Mike
[15:07:13] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl223D4A41> not really on this tiny keyboard; the bit about unauthenticated
plaintex from the page is about what I would say
[15:07:34] <wiesand> Thanks :-/
[15:08:00] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl223D4A41> ais the debian 9 guest for anything exciting?
[15:09:23] <meffie> no just trying to modernize my working environment.
[15:10:40] <wiesand> Linux-next is still in the merge window, right?
[15:10:47] <meffie> yes
[15:11:19] <wiesand> Not much news freom the ubik-fixes front either, right?
[15:11:38] <meffie> our linux daily builders are down at the moment for a physical move. they are in the new location now so i should be able to restart them this afternoon.
[15:11:52] <wiesand> Great.
[15:12:19] <meffie> (the new data center is only 6 miles from my house, so i can get physical access now if needed)
[15:13:09] <wiesand> Our data center is 2.5 miles from my home :)
[15:13:25] <meffie> heh
[15:14:02] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl223D4A41> nothing from me on ubik fixes, no :(
[15:15:03] <wiesand> This new "don't try the preferred DB server forever" change looks interesting.
[15:15:54] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl223D4A41> Yes, especially Andrew's comment
[15:15:55] <meffie> yes, i'm confused on when this was introduced. it's seems like a really serious bug.
[15:15:55] <wiesand> (12653)
[15:16:11] <meffie> maybe i'm all wet?
[15:17:35] <meffie> oh, just saw andrew's comment.
[15:18:28] <wiesand> Either way, once this has been sorted out it's clearly a 1.6.22 candidate. Unless the bug is master-only that is.
[15:18:33] <meffie> i assume something was shuffled between 1.4 and 1.6
[15:19:13] <meffie> no, i first saw this on 1.6.21 when it was released, and quickly determined it was not a 1.6.21 regression.
[15:19:28] <meffie> i think this bug has been present since 1.6.0
[15:19:46] <wiesand> [sigh of relief]
[15:20:47] <wiesand> So, good catch! I'm looking forward to releasing a 1.6.x with a fix.
[15:21:10] <wiesand> Is there more to discuss today?
[15:21:58] <meffie> we moved and renumber our vlservers last week, so hit 12652 first, the dead-lock, then after fixing that i hit 12653.
[15:22:41] <meffie> my cache manager was hung on ls for 2 days :)
[15:24:38] <meffie> one more bug in this area of code; if hard-mount is enabled, the cache manager will never look for new vlserver addresses while retrying. i guess this is ok as long as you dont change all your vlservers at the same time !
[15:25:19] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl223D4A41> You are generally advised to not do that, yeah
[15:26:14] <meffie> also, we have a very very unlikely race when someone does fs newcell (or afsdb calls afs_NewCell).  i was shocked to see afs_PutCell() is a no-op.
[15:26:31] <wiesand> We're about to replace our DB servers… but the plan is to keep the DNS names and IP addresses.
[15:27:29] <meffie> yes, generally people are smart and dont change the vlserver addresses. but sometimes they do.
[15:30:17] <wiesand> Next try: more to discuss today?
[15:30:42] <meffie> that's all. thanks for letting me rant :)
[15:31:00] <wiesand> oh you did?
[15:31:26] <wiesand> Anyway, let's adjourn.
[15:31:39] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl223D4A41> Sorry I was not more present
[15:31:41] <meffie> yes, ben good luck with your duty! thank you
[15:31:57] <meffie> thank you for your civic duty.
[15:32:29] <wiesand> Thanks a lot Ben & Mike. CU next week or in gerrit or...
