[14:51:02] meffie joins the room
[15:00:22] jgorse joins the room
[15:00:29] <jgorse> mornin
[15:02:53] wiesand joins the room
[15:03:20] <wiesand> Hi. Sorry for being late again.
[15:03:20] kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE45450E9 leaves the room
[15:03:20] kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE45450E9 leaves the room
[15:03:45] <jgorse> hey
[15:04:00] <wiesand> Any Linux news?
[15:04:37] <meffie> good day.
[15:05:07] <wiesand> I have a usable F25 Vm now, haven't used it for testing yet though.
[15:05:09] <jgorse> I’ve been working on a patch to cache the anyuser read accesses to afs_linux_permissions on a performance quest. that’s about it.
[15:05:17] <wiesand> Looks like we'll postpone pre1 for a week.
[15:05:28] kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2 joins the room
[15:05:39] <meffie> ok
[15:05:57] <wiesand> Has anything else noteworthy happened since last week?
[15:06:12] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> Not much from me; things have been busy.
[15:06:21] <wiesand> same here :-(
[15:06:23] <jgorse> I did a closer read-through of
[15:06:23] <jgorse> https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/c/11794
[15:06:28] <meffie> just trying to get stuff done.
[15:06:29] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> I looked at a couple of things but couldn't merge due to rebase
conflicts.
[15:06:49] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> Joe: I was looking at that one last night, even.
[15:07:02] <meffie> (btw, mvita is out of the office today)
[15:07:03] <jgorse> hmm… Ben, is there merge conflict on 11794?
[15:07:20] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> I am curious if anyone has been able to reproduce the reported issues
with 1.8 clients.
[15:07:28] <wiesand> Mike: thanks. Pity though.
[15:07:34] <jgorse> hmmm
[15:08:02] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> I am not sure whether the red "canont merge" that gerrit shows me is
just because it lacks +2 review, or presents an actual path conflict.
[15:08:26] <jgorse> fwiw, when I cherry pick it, there have been no conflicts lately on master
[15:08:27] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> Maybe something in afs.h, I suppose.
[15:09:10] <wiesand> Joe: gerrit is much stricter than git cherry-pick
[15:09:49] <jgorse> Stephan: hmm… ok. how can I help/
[15:10:25] <jgorse> I’d like to test the mergability from gerrit’s side
[15:10:25] <wiesand> If just one file the change touches was altered by any other change merged since uploading the last 11974, even if in a completely unrelated part of the file, that will constitute a "path conflict".
[15:10:43] <jgorse> hmm
[15:11:28] <meffie> you could git cherry-pick on top of the current master, then git push to gerrit refs/for/master to make a new patchset number
[15:12:04] <meffie> the new patchset should merge cleanly then.
[15:12:11] <jgorse> Mike: I’ll give that a whirl
[15:12:15] <wiesand> a.k.a. rebase
[15:12:50] <meffie> yeah
[15:12:55] <wiesand> we also seem to have buildbot woes
[15:14:05] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> We can either pester the builder admins or try to get them removed
from the configuration...the latter means needing to manually kick off
new builds.
[15:14:37] <wiesand> Which ones are bad?
[15:16:09] <meffie> i see 5 disconnected at http://buildbot.openafs.org:8010/buildslaves
[15:17:06] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> The aix one is not hooked up to any triggered builds, and I forget
whether the fedora20/21 ones are.  Probably the rhel6 one is the
proximate culprit.
[15:17:14] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> (The irix one is in a similar boat to the aix one)
[15:17:30] <wiesand> for 1.6, only the F20 one seems crucial
[15:17:57] <wiesand> Any volunteers for pestering Derek about it?
[15:18:33] <meffie> yes, i will try to contact them.
[15:18:44] <wiesand> Thanks!
[15:19:03] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> Looks like the rhel6 is Dave Botsch?
[15:20:22] <wiesand> It seems that one is only used for nightlies though
[15:21:20] <jgorse> all right. found the magic command. =) 11794 is “rebased”
[15:21:31] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> Oh, I should also mention that I got a unicast report of build issues
with 1.8 on some flavor of solaris, but no details.  Presumably it
works for you folks that use solaris, or we would have heard already,
though...
[15:21:44] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> Thanks, Joe.
[15:21:54] <meffie> btw, on my internal buildbot, i've created separate categories, and so you can see the nightlies at a glance. the continuous builders have a separate waterfall page.
[15:22:13] <meffie> something like that could be helpful on openafs.org buildbot i think.
[15:22:34] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> Seems likely, yes.
[15:23:04] <meffie> ok, i'll see if it can be done safely.
[15:24:30] <jgorse> Mark!
[15:24:54] <meffie> jgorse: you reset the author :)
[15:25:34] <jgorse> doh!
[15:25:35] <meffie> oh, you reset the author on patchset 4 in fact.
[15:27:18] <jgorse> so I should amend it and put Andrew and Ben in there, right?
[15:27:55] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> I don't think I need to be there...
[15:28:08] <meffie> you'll want to reset the author back to the original that is on patchset 3. git commit --amend --help
[15:28:44] <meffie> er, git commit --amend --author
[15:29:33] <wiesand> Is anzone else having trouble with login to rt_
[15:29:39] <wiesand> _
[15:31:18] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> My existing login cookie works, but I don't know about a fresh login
offhand.
The server behind it has been getting hit by heavy load periodically,
recently.
[15:31:37] mvita leaves the room
[15:31:37] mvita joins the room
[15:32:03] <meffie> > Is anzone else having trouble with login to rt_
[15:32:18] <meffie> no
[15:32:20] <wiesand> forget it, it's just my browser "being helpful" by setting the keyboard layout to "german" whenever the password field gets focus
[15:32:31] <wiesand> @*&@%@*^#@
[15:32:40] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> That sounds quite helpful, indeed ... not.
[15:34:03] <wiesand> restarted it, ok now, sorry for the noise
[15:34:30] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> No worries.
[15:34:41] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> It kind of sounds like we are slowing down for the day, anyway.
[15:35:10] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> (But it would be nice if someone found time to try and reproduce/debug
the 1.8 client issue that was reported.)
[15:35:19] <jgorse> okay, don’t think I can change patchset 3 or 4. 6 is shiny and back to Andrew.
[15:36:19] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> Yeah, patchsets are immutable once submitted.
[15:36:33] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> (So you can see the full history of how a patch evolved.)
[15:37:11] <wiesand> Mark, are you here or just a ghost?
[15:37:41] <wiesand> Guess he's a ghost.
[15:38:00] <wiesand> I'm afraid there's not much more to discuss today?
[15:38:32] <jgorse> makes sense
[15:38:57] mvita leaves the room
[15:39:14] <wiesand> Was a ghost.
[15:39:18] <jgorse> the ghost departs
[15:40:30] <meffie> i felt a chill.
[15:40:58] <wiesand> was that a chain rattling?
[15:41:34] <meffie> no, that was rt.central.org
[15:41:46] <wiesand> Ok. I hope I'll find more time for openafs next week, at least for testing and merging-out-of-the-way the "change harder" stack and the trivial stuff. I won't promise though.
[15:42:21] <wiesand> Unless there's anything else you want to bring up...
[15:42:25] <meffie> wiesand: was has the patches you asked me to wait to push to the 1.6.x branch?
[15:42:34] <meffie> *was
[15:42:39] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> I think I said what I had, already.
[15:43:06] <meffie> maybe i could look at the logs from the week before.
[15:43:29] <wiesand> probably
[15:43:35] <meffie> ok, i'll search.
[15:44:34] <meffie> also, i wonder if we should start doing minutes again/ or or some summary, to post to openafs-info mail list.
[15:45:49] <wiesand> That would be useful, but frankly I can't.
[15:46:03] <meffie> ok, mark and i could probably take turns.
[15:47:13] <wiesand> I should probably maintain some public whiteboard rather than my private notes.
[15:47:37] <meffie> could you just put notes on wiki.openafs.org ?
[15:48:05] <meffie> anthing that search engines can find is helpful
[15:48:54] <wiesand> Probably. But frankly I never understood whether that's meant to be fille through the web interface or through gerrit.
[15:49:58] <meffie> you can use the web interface. the git interface is useful for making mass changes and reorgs.
[15:50:22] <wiesand> Ok, I'll give it a try.
[15:50:57] <meffie> cool. i'm going to commit some time to cleaning up old pages there.
[15:51:24] <jgorse> =)
[15:52:53] <meffie> ok, back to the salt mines for me. have a good evening.
[15:53:08] <wiesand> Thanks Mike!
[15:53:23] <wiesand> Let's adjourn then. Tahnks all!
[15:53:32] wiesand leaves the room
[15:54:16] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> Thanks!
[15:54:44] <jgorse> ciao!
[17:04:08] meffie leaves the room
[17:11:49] mvita joins the room
[17:21:30] mvita leaves the room
[18:14:33] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2> FWIW, with the git/gerrit interface to the wiki, remember to push to
refs/heads/master directly (as opposed to refs/for/master), otherwise
your change will get held for review, which is usually not what we
want
[20:00:25] <jgorse> Okay. Got it. Thanks, Ben. Next time!
[20:37:07] kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowlE3E87EB2 leaves the room
