[13:25:52] jhg joins the room
[13:26:08] <jhg> afk for a bit. switching gears to USB driver thingy. txt if you want me to look at something. I'll be back for release team
[13:39:00] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> Hmm, perhaps that was the wrong window?
[13:46:20] <jhg> kadukoafs_gmailcom: yes. =)
[13:58:58] wiesand joins the room
[14:00:21] <mvita> hello Stephan
[14:00:36] <meffie> good day.
[14:00:46] <mvita> don't know if I ever mentioned that my middle name is Steven.
[14:00:56] <mvita> so we are practically related ;-)
[14:01:36] <mvita> my immediate family still calls me by my middle name
[14:03:09] <wiesand> Hello
[14:03:09] <jhg> greetings! shall I call you guys the Steves, then, mvita? =)
[14:03:24] <mvita> um.
[14:03:30] <wiesand> great idea...
[14:03:35] <mvita> wait.
[14:03:37] <jhg> heh
[14:04:00] <wiesand> so, any news?
[14:04:11] <wiesand> Linux 4.7 test results?
[14:04:18] <wiesand> "shake harder"?
[14:04:23] <jhg> yes, sir
[14:04:29] <mvita> slow down
[14:04:37] <meffie> news: openafs builds on my raspberry pi 3.
[14:04:38] <jhg> I will allow mvita to explain
[14:04:40] <mvita> I start typing and you ask another!
[14:04:56] <wiesand> go ahead
[14:05:06] <mvita> see, I didn't want to bury meffie's lead
[14:05:22] <jhg> the suspense is killing
[14:05:31] <wiesand> why would I want afs on my raspi?
[14:05:34] <mvita> getcwd has proven root cause in 3.18 as previously shared
[14:05:45] <mvita> I don't have a fix yet but hope to have one later today
[14:05:47] <meffie> arm support :)
[14:06:06] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> Supporting myself by my arms is hard; when do we get leg support? ;)
[14:06:14] <meffie> lol
[14:06:17] <mvita> I found no issues in 4.7 but it needs more testing - turning it over to Joe
[14:06:22] <wiesand> I think getcwd fix + shake harder should wait for 1.6.19 - thoughht?
[14:06:27] <mvita> oh, and we know some things required for 4.8
[14:06:35] <mvita> mechanical only so far
[14:06:51] <wiesand> ok, "good" news.
[14:06:54] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> Yes, I think 1.6.19 should wait for getcwd fix.
[14:07:04] <wiesand> and vice versa?
[14:07:54] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> yes :)
[14:08:01] <mvita> okay.   I need to finish today then, because tomorrow (thurs) is my last day - I start vacation on Friday 5th and return on Aug 15
[14:08:39] <wiesand> I doubt we’ll get 1.6.19pre1 out before Aug 15
[14:08:47] <mvita> I would have had it done before this but I had a high priority problem pop up at a customer site.
[14:09:02] <wiesand> np
[14:09:11] <jhg> I have a kernel mainline nightly tester prototyped. should deploy this week. it can be tuned to do arbitrary kernel lines (deb sources), though I think this will do for now.
[14:09:28] <mvita> YAY THANK YOU JOE
[14:09:33] <wiesand> Good!
[14:09:40] <mvita> we've needed that for a long time
[14:09:50] <jhg> so far we are still building and operating on OpenAFS-master and the linux kernel mainline
[14:09:52] <mvita> this will really help us get out of react mode on linux changes
[14:10:13] <jhg> smaller, more directed reactions =)
[14:10:17] <jhg> we have a canary
[14:10:17] <wiesand> master actually works? ;-)
[14:10:24] <mvita> and we are tracking the kernel lists as well
[14:10:42] <jhg> wiesand: of course =)
[14:10:48] <wiesand> sounds like the linux client might have a future after all...
[14:11:22] <mvita> do I detect a glimmer of hope in Stephan?
[14:11:25] <mvita> ;-)
[14:11:55] <mvita> 'cause that's been my goal all along
[14:11:56] <wiesand> nice wording ;-)
[14:12:27] <wiesand> so how about 1.6.18.3?
[14:12:58] <wiesand> May I ask you to look at 12355?
[14:14:28] <mvita> perfecto
[14:14:33] <mvita> +1
[14:15:16] <wiesand> If 12355 is an accurate description of what we want to release as 1.6.18.3, we could go ahead.
[14:16:37] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> It's probably worth getting the 4.7 support out.
[14:17:18] <wiesand> which doesn’t have a single +1 yet though... like the pkgbuild thing...
[14:17:38] <wiesand> but I’m kind of getting used to merging stuff anyway
[14:18:48] <meffie> https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/c/12348/  ?
[14:19:00] <meffie> jhg did you see that?
[14:19:25] <mvita> sure he has - can't build without it
[14:19:32] <mvita> on 4.7
[14:19:36] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> "Looks like it has a +1 to me" ;)
[14:19:43] <meffie> heh
[14:19:47] <jhg> I've seen it
[14:19:58] <meffie> i thought so. where's the +1 :)
[14:20:14] <mvita> we only tried it on master, not 1.6.x
[14:20:38] <mvita> but that's for verify - for review it can get a +1 no problem
[14:20:42] <meffie> it's a clumsy way of asking :)
[14:20:44] <jhg> where is the master version
[14:21:05] <mvita> merged to master
[14:21:09] <meffie> see "reviewed on::" line
[14:21:13] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> linked from the commit message -- https://gerrit.openafs.org/12345
[14:21:26] <meffie> in the commit message, yes.
[14:21:36] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> (And yes, Anders wins the numerological game.)
[14:22:16] <meffie> "the whole story" melted my brain.
[14:22:18] <jhg> I see it
[14:22:42] <jhg> okay, any way we can add the topic so it filters nice with the rest of the 4.7 issues?
[14:22:52] <wiesand> I updated the NEWS change with Ben’s suggestions
[14:23:19] <wiesand> rest of 4.7 issues?
[14:23:32] <meffie> it think only the "owner" can add a topic to an existing gerrit.
[14:23:38] <jhg> linux47
[14:23:40] <mvita> the only thing that melted my brain about that commit is that we have defines which look very similar, but some come from Linux and some come from our own autoconfig
[14:23:52] <jhg> there is a convention for the linux ones
[14:24:56] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> I added a topic, though the master version of the change didn't have
one and I don't think I can change it.
[14:25:06] <mvita> if you search for KEY_ALLOC you won't find any autoconfig logic for KEY_ALLOC_BYPASS_RESTRICTION because it's Linux
[14:25:13] <mvita> the commit msg explains this
[14:25:17] <mvita> but the CODE does not.
[14:26:10] <meffie> thank you for the topic ben.
[14:26:16] <wiesand> ok this is your last chance to object to the macos pkgbuild stuff
[14:28:22] <wiesand> too late now
[14:28:29] <wiesand> Ben: how did you do that?
[14:29:20] <meffie> yay packaging stuff
[14:29:29] <wiesand> about to merge the solaris mmap changes...
[14:29:35] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> There's a little pencil off to the right to edit it.
But I have all sorts of magic powers in gerrit; I'm not sure which one
granted me the ability to do so.
[14:31:54] <wiesand> BTW could you abandon 10832 for me?
[14:32:25] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> done
[14:32:42] <wiesand> Thanks
[14:32:56] <wiesand> Hmm, why’s gerrit telling me I cannot merge 12350?
[14:33:52] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> code review +2
[14:34:30] <wiesand> silly me
[14:37:41] <wiesand> ok, NOW I managed to upload a revised 12355...
[14:38:21] <wiesand> And the last change to go into 1.6.18.3 would then be 12356
[14:39:00] <wiesand> NB buildbot seems slow or stuck
[14:39:40] <wiesand> it hasn’t returned anything on the changes I pushed 2.5 hours ago
[14:41:01] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> freebsd builder is offline, it seems?
[14:41:11] <wiesand> thanks for checking
[14:42:12] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> maybe it rebooted and buildbot didn't come up cleanly; I can take a
look after my other meeting
[14:43:19] <wiesand> Does anyone think we should block merging 12356 (and thus finalizing 1.6.18.3) on buildbot?
[14:43:33] <meffie> thank you ben.
[14:44:14] <mvita> i have no objection to a manual verify on 12356
[14:44:19] <wiesand> btw thanks o lot for reviewing the open 1.6 changes
[14:45:54] <wiesand> ok, merged
[14:46:29] <wiesand> after a look at https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/q/status:merged+project:openafs+branch:openafs-stable-1_6_x , do we agree that we want to release 1.6.18.3 like this?
[14:47:37] <mvita> okay for me
[14:50:07] <wiesand> So if there are no objections: Ben, could you tag commit 4e61e2f895cf869dcf01693ce1d41be85aed82c3 as openafs-stable-1_6_18_3 ?
[14:50:33] <meffie> look good.
[14:50:59] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> (still in other meeting)
[14:51:09] <mvita> kaduk:  thanks for refraining from de-orbiting windows over the weekend
[14:51:24] <wiesand> ?
[14:52:28] <wiesand> Since Ben seems busy, probably no 1.8 discussion today?
[14:52:33] <wiesand> Anything else then?
[14:52:44] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> I replied to some of Mike's comments
[14:53:44] <meffie> thank you. will try to finish more reviews before pushing new patchsets :)
[14:54:02] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> Oh, also I pushed some updated ubik commits during the meeting
[14:54:35] <meffie> excellent. thanks.
[14:54:38] <wiesand> Looks like we’re getting closer to 1.6.19
[14:54:43] <wiesand> Great
[14:55:22] <mvita> please give some love to 12352 and 12353
[14:55:37] <mvita> the problem is rare but catastrophic
[14:55:49] meffie added to the list
[14:55:53] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> Those are 1.6 candidates, right?
[14:56:07] <mvita> once approved on master, yes
[14:57:41] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> My other meeting finished.
Whoops, I forgot that I can only log in to the ubuntu builder that
Garrett runs, not the freebsd one.
[14:57:45] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> So we'll have to poke him.
[14:59:38] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> I didn't make much progress on 1.8 this week, unfortunately, so maybe
we should call it a day.
Thanks to Mike for putting in some reviews; everyone is encouraged to
do some as well.
[15:00:10] <mvita> looking at the ubik updates now
[15:00:40] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> The middle commit may not be super-necessary any more.
Especially if we move the logging bits out of ContactQuorum_rcode and
into the iteration
[15:00:57] <mvita> <nod>
[15:02:22] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> Let me work on that tag...
[15:06:07] <wiesand> With or without a tag yet, I can continue with 1.6.18.3 now, and I’ll hopefully get done most of it today.
[15:07:21] <wiesand> So yes, let’s call it a day?
[15:08:41] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> Sure.  Thanks for being here.
[15:08:44] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl2200C8CA> Oh, and have a tag.
[15:09:03] <mvita> guten tag
[15:09:16] <wiesand> Got the tag. Thanks.
[15:09:39] <wiesand> Vielen Dank für Eure Teilnahme heute!
[15:09:58] <wiesand> Mark, have a nice vacation!
