[14:01:06] <wiesand> Hi
[14:03:14] <Jeffrey Altman> Hi.  I have a conflicting meeting this morning.
[14:03:36] <wiesand> I guess there isn’t much to discuss anyway.
[14:04:38] <mvita> oops, sorry
[14:04:48] <mvita> I was avoidably detained ;-)
[14:05:52] Daria joins the room
[14:06:29] meffie joins the room
[14:06:40] <meffie> hello
[14:06:58] <mvita> I haven't looked at gerrit recently - is there anything that needs attention, stephan?
[14:07:48] <wiesand> Andrew’s Ubik fixes, probably?
[14:08:29] <mvita> right, okay.
[14:09:01] <meffie> yes, that should be a priority
[14:10:19] <meffie> i dont have anything new for 1.6.x. i could look to see if there are any candidates on master that could be backported.
[14:10:20] <wiesand> I see jsbillings pulled the proposed linux45 changes into his copr package. This may get us some feedback at least if they arent’ sufficient.
[14:10:24] <wiesand> http://copr-dist-git.fedorainfracloud.org/cgit/jsbillings/openafs-kmod/openafs-kmod.git/commit/?id=da4e48d3de192860dd4d0844662d8906a1703949
[14:11:37] <wiesand> I think there’s not much, if anything atm.
[14:11:38] <meffie> that's a fancy git status
[14:12:05] <meffie> er, git show --stat
[14:14:43] <meffie> also, we are looking at 4.6 changes next
[14:15:23] <wiesand> Ben pulled up 12274. I had that on my candidate list when it was fresh, but to cite Marc "it’s just a warning". I’m indifferent.
[14:15:51] <wiesand> You’re about to work on fixing the client for Linux 4.6?
[14:16:44] <meffie> joe has already started
[14:17:20] <meffie> (but he is traveling at the moment, some where in peru i think.)
[14:17:35] <wiesand> Saw his comments on the 45 ones :)
[14:18:02] <wiesand> Hope :)
[14:18:20] <mvita> yup!
[14:20:18] <wiesand> Mark, there’s still that RT ticket of yours. I have no idea what the plan is regarding that.
[14:20:29] <mvita> I've heard nothing.
[14:20:38] <wiesand> And that’s one reason why I’m not pushing much atm.
[14:20:43] <mvita> did you see my updates earlier this week?
[14:21:03] <wiesand> in RT?
[14:21:07] <mvita> aye
[14:21:15] <wiesand> er, no... hang on...
[14:21:31] <mvita> I never know where they go or who sees them.
[14:21:54] <mvita> Ben did acknowledge the original submission
[14:25:10] <wiesand> The updates look promising. Now if I could decipher the report they’re updating things might start making sense to me ;-)
[14:25:32] <wiesand> I’m not pushing. It’s up to Ben to handle this stuff the way he sees fit.
[14:25:37] <mvita> right.
[14:27:36] <wiesand> Reminder: I’ll probably be unavailable next week
[14:27:52] <wiesand> (The day of the meeting, and the next one)
[14:28:22] <mvita> would you like me to cover for you?  or just postpone until the following week?
[14:29:07] <wiesand> No, that would be great.
[14:29:31] <mvita> um, which?
[14:29:34] <mvita> ;-)
[14:29:38] <wiesand> The former
[14:29:47] <mvita> it would be my pleasure
[14:30:36] <wiesand> Thanks.
[14:31:16] <wiesand> We’ll have a planned downtime starting 3pm that day.
[14:32:39] kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl4B0829E7 leaves the room
[14:32:51] kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl4B0829E7 joins the room
[14:33:32] <wiesand> Ben’s ghost is rattling with his chains?
[14:34:45] <wiesand> Does anyone have experience with our client on the RHEL 6.8 kernel yet?
[14:35:11] <wiesand> My 1.6.18 smoke tests suggest we’re ok, but some parts of the technical notes for that update looked scary.
[14:36:32] <mvita> not me - do you have a URL?
[14:38:22] <mvita> nm, I have them
[14:38:36] <wiesand> https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/6.8_Technical_Notes/bug_fixes_kernel.html
[14:39:22] <wiesand> "inodes are now freed as intended"
[14:40:37] <wiesand> "BUG_ON() in fs_clear_inode() no longer occurs"
[14:42:10] <mvita> reading...
[14:42:27] <wiesand> I’m probably just paranoid ;-)
[14:43:15] <mvita> ah, tech notes.  I'm reading the _release_ notes
[14:43:18] <mvita> stand by
[14:44:08] <mvita> I see it.
[14:45:05] <mvita> sounds like only goodness to me, but I'll check our code paths to assuage your paranoia - that is, if you think it would help... ;-)
[14:46:17] <wiesand> If it does break us, we’re going to find out. Don’t spend time on it unless you’re sure it’s worth it.
[14:47:26] <meffie> wiesand: which rhel kernel version?
[14:48:00] <wiesand> 2.6.32-642.el6
[14:49:08] <meffie> ok, yeah, i know other sites are deploying that now too.
[14:50:39] <meffie> ok, thanks.
[14:51:22] <wiesand> I still think they’re kind of protecting us, deliberately.
[14:52:17] <wiesand> That Linux 4.4 change (splice, ERESTARTSYS) made it onto lots of "stable" kernels. But not into the EL6.8 one.
[14:53:56] <wiesand> But that may just be wishful thinking.
[14:54:58] <wiesand> Since Ben’s not here... I guess he would ask about that rebase of 11793
[14:55:05] <wiesand> (sorry for being a nuisance)
[14:56:08] <mvita> haven't heard from Thomas
[14:56:50] <wiesand> It was a pleasant surprise to see him in gerrit at all.
[14:57:11] <meffie> yes, it was.
[15:00:10] <wiesand> OK, anything else you’d like to bring up?
[15:00:55] <meffie> no thank you
[15:01:28] <wiesand> Thanks. See you in  a fortnight then.
[15:01:43] <meffie> thank you and take care
[15:01:45] <mvita> okay.
[15:01:57] <wiesand> Bye.
[15:01:58] wiesand leaves the room
[15:04:34] meffie leaves the room
[15:16:58] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl4B0829E7> Sorry I missed the meeting.
I didn't get anything done last week, as I was busy apartment-hunting.
