[13:19:27] <wiesand> no dups :)
[13:21:44] meffie joins the room
[13:51:03] Marc Dionne joins the room
[14:00:35] <wiesand> Hello.
[14:01:05] <meffie> greetings
[14:01:06] <Marc Dionne> hi stephan
[14:01:15] deason joins the room
[14:01:24] <deason> hi
[14:01:50] <wiesand> So, any showstoppers to releasing pre2 as 1.6.8?
[14:02:02] <shadow@gmail.com/barnowl7628413F> none here
[14:02:49] <Marc Dionne> haven't tested against 3.15 since rc4, but will try to test against current mainline before this meeting is done..
[14:03:34] <wiesand> Great. Anything evil happening between rc5 and 3.15 final seems unlikely?
[14:04:05] <Marc Dionne> yes, unlikely, but of course can never be 100% sure
[14:04:41] <wiesand> Of course. But it would make us scramble anyway...
[14:05:13] <wiesand> RT seems quiet too.
[14:05:26] <Marc Dionne> and I tested against current -next during the week.  there will definitely be changes needed for 3.16, but so far it looks minor
[14:06:12] <wiesand> So minor that it would make sense to delay 1.6.8 for it?
[14:06:36] <Marc Dionne> i think that's more 1.6.8+ material
[14:06:46] <wiesand> Ok. Thanks.
[14:07:14] <deason> there were a couple of testing results that came in yesterday; no issues reported
[14:07:21] <Marc Dionne> i wouldn't commit anything to the tree based on things that are only in -next
[14:07:32] <wiesand> Good. Thanks.
[14:08:30] <wiesand> So while I start merging the final changes and rolling preliminary tarballs: What would you want to add to 1.6.9?
[14:10:18] <deason> "everything that's in gerrit now that's not -2'd?"
[14:10:53] <wiesand> Those of course.
[14:11:14] <wiesand> Except for one or two Jeff objected to without -'ing them.
[14:12:11] <meffie> i think there are some minor things in gerrit that have not been merged on master yet, i need to search.
[14:12:24] <wiesand> Stack reduction?
[14:12:24] <Marc Dionne> do we know if gcc 4.9 has showed up anywhere - it needs a few minor fixes
[14:13:20] <wiesand> No idea. But yes, we probably want those.
[14:13:26] <meffie> oh, yes, and those need to go on master too. i have a backport to 1.6.x that i'm rechecking.
[14:14:18] <Simon Wilkinson> Marc's CheckTokenCache speedup should go in, although it needs some cleanup for master first.
[14:15:35] <wiesand> Right. What about the mmap fixes?
[14:15:51] <Simon Wilkinson> Would be good to get those in too.
[14:16:23] <Marc Dionne> yeah, they're for a very narrow use case, but also unlikely to affect other things
[14:16:33] <Simon Wilkinson> They're a little more scary than the CheckTokenCache stuff, in that they span the boundary between the kernel's memory management stuff and our own, which is always an area of danger.
[14:16:36] <wiesand> NB should I be nervous because our security officer is here? ;-)
[14:16:41] <Simon Wilkinson> No
[14:17:38] <wiesand> Ok. But if they fix things that ought to work, they should at least be discussed.
[14:17:52] <Simon Wilkinson> I think they should go in.
[14:18:10] <Simon Wilkinson> Just flagging that they are slightly higher risk than the other stuff we have been discussing.
[14:18:29] <wiesand> Ok.
[14:19:19] <Marc Dionne> don't think writepage gets used other than for mmap btw.  normal writes don't go through there
[14:22:50] <Marc Dionne> running a test now - looks fine with current 1.6 head and 3.15-rc5+ from today
[14:23:04] <wiesand> Fine. If any other non-trivial or non-urgent change crosses your minds, please bring it up before the next meeting.
[14:23:40] <wiesand> After that we should concentrate on getting merged what was agreed in principle so far.
[14:23:54] <wiesand> Andrew: this is your "advance notice" ;-)
[14:24:08] <wiesand> Marc: Thanks!
[14:25:56] <deason> okay, thanks
[14:26:15] <wiesand> Anything else to discuss today?
[14:27:24] <wiesand> [working on the tarballs...]
[14:27:43] <deason> binaries and tagging and everything is happening today asap, right?
[14:28:00] <deason> just waiting for the tarballs
[14:28:08] <wiesand> I think we should do it like the last few times:
[14:29:10] <wiesand> I'm working on the "preliminary" tarballs now. Should be uploaded r.s.n. After a few smoke tests by release-team folks, ask Daria for the tag, make the web changes, anounnce.
[14:32:59] <wiesand> [creating the volume...] anything else?
[14:37:19] <wiesand> upload complete
[14:39:37] <wiesand> So, if you can smoke test, pease do. I'll also announce the preliminary tarballs on -release-team.
[14:44:13] <wiesand> checking that the srpm builds on fedora this time...
[14:46:11] deason leaves the room
[14:46:11] deason joins the room
[14:52:20] <wiesand> it does
[14:53:38] <Marc Dionne> smoke tests ok from src tarball on same system (f20, 3.15-rc5+)
[14:53:58] <wiesand> Great, thanks.
[14:55:52] shadow@gmail.com/barnowl7628413F joins the room
[15:31:20] <wiesand> Smoke test ok here on EL5/6/7 and F18.
[15:37:31] <wiesand> Andrew, are you building for Solaris?
[15:41:29] <deason> yep
[15:49:05] meffie leaves the room
[15:49:38] <wiesand> Thanks. Daria, if you're still here could you please tag bcb20408d6cab347b51f5a6e17e8ec93c36f0685 as openafs-stable-1_6_8 ?
[15:58:42] <wiesand> Ok, I'll go offline for an hour and will se what else I can get done today (minutes, draft announcement, web, ...). Thanks a lot everyone!
