[18:31:54] <mvita> openafs builders are failing at git step with "fatal: Couldn't find remote ref refs/changes/80/12180/1"
[18:31:54] Simon Wilkinson leaves the room
[18:31:54] Simon Wilkinson leaves the room
[18:32:32] <mvita> I submitted a stack of 4 on topic branch master/cold_shutdown and they all failed w/ similar msgs
[18:32:44] <ballbery> fwiw if I try to follwo the gitweb link for the commit in gerrit 12180, I get "unknown commit object"
[18:32:49] <mvita> I triggered a force rebuild for one and got the same results
[18:33:03] <ballbery> makes me wonder if something is messed in the git repo
[18:33:08] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl8DA8ED20> A similar thing happened for one of the changes I submitted (that I
promptly -2'd as a new feature) ... I was hoping it was a one-off or
due to the -2.
[18:33:30] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl8DA8ED20> The commit is not getting propogated from gerrit to the external git
repository.
[18:33:45] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl8DA8ED20> And I need to logout so as to get fewer than seven copies of each
message.
[18:33:47] <mvita> kaduk: yes, I saw you had an occurrence of the same thing a few days ago
[18:33:56] kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl8DA8ED20 leaves the room
[18:34:29] kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl91A41386 joins the room
[18:34:37] <ballbery> oh dear, you do seem to be multiply present
[18:34:49] <ballbery> now there's 4 of you
[18:34:51] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl91A41386> Now I only get three copies; that's better.
[18:35:10] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl91A41386> Nevermind; I'm back to seven.
[18:35:16] kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl91A41386 leaves the room
[18:35:32] <mvita> ballbery:  I was also having weirdness with the gitweb buttons - random capitalization cgi arg OPENafs was giving me a 404

[18:35:32] kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl8DA8ED20 leaves the room

[18:36:17] kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl1D5B1148 joins the room
[18:36:26] <ballbery> this isn't a 404, it's git failing to find the commit hash
[18:36:41] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl1D5B1148> Yes; the commit just isn't there.
[18:36:42] <ballbery> which kaduk explained before trying to unmultiplyh
[18:37:09] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl1D5B1148> There are two repos; one managed by gerrit and another used to serve
gitweb; buildbot uses the latter since it doesn't require an ssh key.
[18:38:42] <mvita> ballbery:  understood, you are not getting 404.  But I am.
[18:42:33] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl1D5B1148> I'm going to bounce gerrit just on general principles, then I can
manually fetch revisions as needed.
[18:43:23] <meffie> ok, thanks ben.
[18:43:46] <mvita> yes, thank you
[18:45:37] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl1D5B1148> the gitweb link from 12180 works for me now.
[18:45:45] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl1D5B1148> (After just the restart.)
[18:48:20] <mvita> me too, after flushing browser cache
[18:50:24] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl1D5B1148> (It's less clear to me whether buildbot will pick this up
automatically ... I feel like it ought to, but am not sure.)
[18:51:36] <mvita> well - I could just push it again if that's advisable.
[18:57:16] <ballbery> with the way git uses its commits, I'd think not advisable
[18:58:11] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl1D5B1148> You'd have to rebase onto a different parent in order to have any real
effect.
[18:59:45] <mvita> yeah.... or make a bogus commit msg change
[19:03:22] <mvita> gotta eat some lunch, brb

[20:19:35] <mvita> fyi:  the gitweb link "capitalization"/404  problem was an artifact of NoScript trying to protect me from perceived XSS attack.
[20:20:58] <dwbotsch> what server software is this chat running?
[20:21:50] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl1D5B1148> ejabberd
[20:22:07] <dwbotsch> am I the only one seeing duplicates of every message?
[20:22:33] <mvita> I see only one of each
[20:22:54] <dwbotsch> ok. I'm seeing 5
[20:23:21] <mvita> well - you are logged in as both dwbotsch and CUDave
[20:23:24] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl1D5B1148> I was seeing seven for a while ... I had to leave the chat, then log
out and log in again and re-join the chat to get back down.
[20:23:27] <mvita> but that only accounts for 2
[20:23:37] <dwbotsch> k. I'll try that.
[20:23:40] dwbotsch leaves the room
[20:24:07] <kadukoafs@gmail.com/barnowl1D5B1148> I think I pick up an extra copy every time my client automatically
reconnets after a connection drops.

[20:25:19] <dwbotsch> ha ha ha :)
