IF EXIST($(SRC)\WINNT\extra) && EXIST($(SRC)\WINNT\extra\NTMakefile) echo ***** $@ [19:26:55] since what that says is if the directory does not exist and the NTMakefile does, then .... which is clearly worng [07:43:36] This almost got by me. Doesn't the ' !' introduce the IF directive? [07:44:21] Managing Projects with Nmake has, p. 50, "Preprocessing directives begin with an exclamation point (!), which must appear at the beginning of the line. Zero or more spaces or tabs can appear between the exclamation point and the directive keyword; this allows indentation for readability." [09:15:59] --- SecureEndpoints has become available [09:28:06] DOC=$(AFSROOT)\doc seemed to be a useful line in the KDFS top-level NTMakefile that disappeared [09:39:04] --- reuteras has left [09:55:15] focusing on why the kdfs branch sucks is bound to be wasted time [09:59:34] I gathered that, yet it seemed it also is used to develop test installs. If that's not true, it could be unwasted time to explain what is done instead. [10:00:59] it depends whose time and how they value it [10:01:56] In this forum, certainly. [10:02:05] in some sense, if the test installs work, and the branch will be discarded, expending any effort whatsoever on improving the build infrastructure in the branch is pointless. [10:02:35] like, tweaking the build process will not make the test installs "work more" and is not something an end user will use. [10:02:47] binary: either the test installs work, or not [10:02:59] Not true. The time doesn't have to be worth what it cost to not be wasted; it just have to have been worth _something_. [10:03:05] if the test installs are built by magic, rather than build infrastrucure, then...? [10:03:19] en... so what? [10:03:27] "th"en so what [10:03:43] I was replying to this: > it depends whose time and how they value it [10:03:44] i was thinking more like "just because your build environment doesn't exactly match mine"... [10:03:51] yes, and i was replying to matt [10:04:18] I want to build test installs, using tools available or which I can write. the kdfs branch is an oddity, but to the degree it is in openafs repository, i'm approaching it as such [10:05:21] I do not have a another formula for building installs atm. this is presented as an open issue for openafs and REDACTED by secure endpoints. it is unlikely that I personally will address it. thus, I'm hacking around that. [10:05:27] i want a pony. [10:06:02] I want a pony too [10:06:02] ok, well, now i can at least guess the politics which surround this [10:06:11] And some day, someone will take you up on that, and then what will you do? [10:06:21] pony burgers. [10:06:22] simon: give me a pony? [10:06:24] I think perhaps ponies are overrated [10:30:46] I think it's an american right to have a pony, and I shouldn't have to license my pony with anyone. I need this pony to protect myself and my family. Stop trying to take our ponies away from us! [10:35:13] ah, the 2nd and 2/3rds amendment. [10:39:45] i declare today to be pony freedom day [10:40:02] the day where finally all ponies produced from now until the end of the year belong to me instead of the government [10:40:08] me, by the way. not you. [10:43:45] but... but... I have a right to my pony! [10:46:04] not in derrick brashear's america. [10:46:24] haha, did you get a change.gov position then? [10:46:37] no [10:48:12] lame. I use the same build scripts for 1.5.x and kdfs minus a change to point the AFSROOT at the right build tree.
